Body control illustration- Process

in #drawing3 years ago

The second 'reason' for staying safe on the worksite is a less obvious outcome of paralysis, losing control of bodily functions. As James Wood of CNBSafe cheekily explains, 'you will piss and shit yourself- seriously!'

The prompt was simple, and this illustration in general was one of the more straight forward of the bunch. I nailed the pose and angle straight away, and oddly enough it was the shape of the urine that I had the most trouble with. Perhaps I should have created a reference shot for myself...

Again I used reference to keep with the overall more realistic approach. Trying to draw a wheelchair in the right angle with legs and body all in the same perspective is tricky, so as you can see I've mocked up a collage to get the bottom half in place, with the head drawn from a seperate piece of reference and the body worked out on the screen.

Here's the first pass, for checking by the client before progressing.

For your comfort I've not included the many drafts of different shaped piss puddles. Some things are better unseen.

Final colour and level balance, last piss check, and it's on to the next one.

Hope you guys are doing alright, let me know if I should keep going with these.
