zero's Sketchbook Chronicles - episode X + 1 📚🖌

in #drawings3 years ago (edited)

Going through your old sketchbooks is both nostalgic and great to check how you've progressed since. There are a lot of drawings of mine that I know look at several years later and feel rather different about them. In a good way! Most of these are from 2005-2008 when I was at University in England. Some drawings I don't "become friends with" until way later. Most of the time when I sketch it's just freeform but on occasion I do have a purpose or plan for a sketch either to develop it further in a different medium or to practice a specific technique. Let me try to illustrate what I mean:

Quite a whallop already huh? Most of these were specific to my Illustration and Graphic Design studies in Lincoln, UK :)

Let's have a couple more:

Hint of the Day:

One of my favorite places to hang out online and learn about Art when I was younger were (and still are) the conceptart.org forums!

Tons of inspiring artists, stories, processes, resources and more.

Hope you guys feel positively illuminated at this stage. It ain't magic, it's sweat and practice. It's old newspaper, sitting on the floor for hours in awkward positions and using whatever colorful thing you find that leaves a mark. Don't forget to have fun too while you're at it!

I'll still be archiving my stuff for a while, still got tons of character studies, life drawings, illustration exercise and graphic design bits to show, watch this space for additional pieces in the future. Back to the drawing board.

I also encourage you to check out the Artbees Discord channel. There is a pretty sweet community emerging here with talent worth supporting methinks.

Good to see this account active again. Cross posts are fine but afaik they hardly give an edge of visibility as some communities prefer the post first on their turf rather than be somewhere else.
