Allow Myself to Introduce Myself

I wanted to take a quick moment, introduce myself, and tell you a little bit about who I am and why I'm here. As luck would have it for you, I'm a man of many words but not always of the typed kind and prefer the 'short but sweet' (hopefully) method of blogging/writing.

I'm Ryan!

Just the facts

  • In my mid 40s
  • Father of 2
  • Husband of 1
  • Live in the suburbs of Chicago
  • Work in game development, and have for the past ~17 years
  • Have a degree in Audio Engineering from Middle Tennessee State University

The Fun Stuff

While I don't have the time that I used to for hobbies, I love; spending time with my family, music and all things audio, exercise / being better about working out, videogames (mostly mobile), gadgets and EDC gear, writing/blogging, and tip/tricks on self improvement (who doesn't want to keep learning and growing?). In addition to all of that I'm really excited about learning more about Hive and all things Blockchain, one of the main reasons I'm here!

Why Am I Here

As mentioned above I do enjoy writing/blogging, even if I don't do it very often despite having a website of some sort off and on for 20 years (more off than on). When I saw what Hive had to offer around building communities and the technology behind it, I just had to dive in and see what it was all about for myself. The possibility space of having a smaller, while growing community, that fosters positive engagement and rewards contributors for that is very exciting and interesting. Making any type of money here, while nice of course, is way less important to me than learning more about the platform and connecting with people who have similar interests and experiences to share; community!

What's Next?

I'll be posting more about my own workout journey and other random odds and ends around that. Through those posts you'll get to know more about me and I'm looking forward to learning more about Hive and the communities within it - thanks for stopping by! Also thanks @fionasfavourites, @lovesniper, and @ocd for the warm welcome message.

(and yes most of the workout selfies I take are like this :) )

Ahem...are you sure? lol

Anyhow, Ryan, welcome. I had also been blogging elsewhere before I joined. Once I found my way (it did take a while) I, not looked back.

Have fun and hope to see you around the Hive!

LOL - Thank you so much, I appreciate the hello and note!

Whats happening? Nice to meet you, Ryan. My real name is Ryan too so it's always awesome to meet someone with our name, lol. I also have a nephew in law named Ryan and my best friend named his son Ryan after me. Ruined that kids life right away. I say kid, he's 19 already, lol.

Sorry I missed your debut here but I'm following you now. So give us some good content to read. And be active nobody likes it when people dont interact, lol.

If you need any help with stuff dont hesitate to ask. We are all pretty helpful. Dont be afraid to ask a "stupid" question. Cause the only stupid questions are the ones that are never asked.

If you need any help and cant get a hold of someone but need an answer right now. I'm one of the ones dont mind being contacted directly on Discord. If I'm awake and not in the middle of work or recording a podcast I usually answer pretty quick.

For the best answers on things such as 3Speak and video talk to that @eddiespino guy. He's a secret ninja on the 3Speak team.

And that @appukuttan66 guy created Terrive which is an Instagram style frontend for Hive and runs completely on IPFS and is super cool! I really need to use it more but I dont do pics very much. I podcast, lol.

@fionasfavourites is also a super nice person and always has good content.

Me? I'm that one uncle that shows up at the family functions that drinks too much beer and turns it into a party. Think cousin Eddie from Christmas Vacation.

Guess what I'm saying is that people on Hive are not like any other social media anywhere. Here we care and take a vested interest in our growing family. Because that's how we see it.

So, welcome to the family. We're glad you joined.

Hope to

Good to know you are Ryan! I often wonder about the person behind the handle and his favourite tipple. You do the beer, I'll stick to the wine if you don't mind 🤗

Thank you for jumping in (and the kind words). I need to check out Terrive especially since @dapplr might get shut down if the developers can't sell it. I use it daily for my "food diary" posts. So, thanks for mentioning it.

Have a great Thursday!

I kinda feel sorry for your best friends son.

Thanks @unklebonehead I appreciate the hello, tips, and help on Discord. Really enjoying learning more about Hive, the platform, community, and all things within it. There's definitely a lot to take in and I'm sure I'll be taking you up on your offer to help and really do appreciate the pointers! 🙏

Hey Ryan, welcome to Hive!

I'm happy to meet you, and I think it is great that you have decided to blog in Hive. I live in Mexico, but I have a cousin that used to lives in Chicago, now he lives somewhere else in the USA. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact me on Discord (eddiespino#2240), Twitter, and Telegram the same username as here.

And I saw that you don't have any Hive Power, so that I will delegate you some.

Thank you and that is way too kind of you! I'll definitely reach out if I have any questions, which I'm sure I will. 😀

Definitely an introduction of an engineer! The content is precise, clear and short :P. I love the fact that you are not here to make a bit more money but to learn about Hive, blockchain and perhaps make a lots more money later on. Looking forward to your next post! :)

Thank you! Not an audio engineer, I'm more on the business side in game development and even there still prefer the short but sweet bullet list TLDR. :)

Hive Power Up Month - Feedback from Day 7

Ryan, welcome to hive ! I'm not much of a fitness guy ( I almost never put on weight even with all the food that goes into me 😃 ) but you might feel at home with the guys at #actifit !

Good call! I saw that group before and will check it out and thanks for the welcome!
