Am Sonntag (9.11.) jährt sich der Todestag des Malerfürsten Ernst Fuchs zum zehnten Mal. Diesen Anlass würdigt das Ernst-Fuchs-Museum mit einer neuen Ausstellung, die sich einer fast vergessenen Phase der heimischen Avantgarde widmet. Der renommierte Kunsthistoriker Tobias G. Natter hat für "'Mein Atelier ist verwaist' gerettete Werke aus der Haasgasse 10" Arbeiten zusammengetragen, die aus einem gemeinsam von Fuchs, Arnulf Rainer und Maria Lassnig genutzten Atelier stammen. ^Source

Allerdings nicht ohne Kontroverse - die Ansicht ist jedoch dass es wohl keine bessere Werbung für die Ausstellung geben könnte als der Bericht im ORF:

Von 10 Uhr bis zur Ausstellungseröffnung um 17 Uhr war das Museum für Familie und Freunde geöffnet.

Zu diesem Anlass, dem zehnjährigen Jahrestag, möchte ich ein bedeutendes Werk in Erinnerung rufen:

Das Rosenkranz - Triptychon von Ernst FuchsHier in der Pfarrkirche zu Hetzendorf hängen drei große Bilder, die internationale Beachtung gefunden haben. Sie wurden bei der Biennale 1970 in Sao Paulo (Südamerika) mit einem Preis ausgezeichnet. Es handelt sich um ein zwischen 1958-1960 gemaltes Triptychon des Malers Ernst Fuchs, eines bedeutenden Vertreters der Wiener Schule des sogenannten "phantastischen Realismus", einer Wiener Abart des Surrealismus. Die Bilder sind je drei mal drei Meter groß und auf zwölf zusammengenähten Ziegenhäuten, die am Rande nicht beschnitten sind, in einer eigenen Mischtechnik gemalt. ^Source

ERNST FUCHS - AN AMAZING LIFE

Ernst Fuchs was born in 1930 in the 16th district of Vienna – Ottakring. He was the only child of Leopoldine and Maximilian Fuchs. His father, who was of Jewish ancestry, had to flee the Nazis in 1941 and departed to Shanghai. At the age of 12, Ernst Fuchs avowed himself to Roman Catholicism by being baptized at the ‘Stephansdom’, the St. Stephen’s Cathedral in Vienna. Because of his race, Fuchs was denied access to regular schools and he had to be homeschooled. Little Ernst’s artistic talent was undeniable, so his teacher decided to include extracurricular subjects like painting and sculpture in his education.^Source

I had in years past come across quite a few 'fake diplomas' that pretend to be academic credentials. Next to 'Pay to Play Galleries' they are the scourge to be avoided. The summary of a paper about this spells it out

It’s great to see Ernst Fuchs being remembered, and the new exhibition sounds fascinating, especially learning about his lesser known works. His art was really unique and it’s nice that people are still talking about his impact.

There is a wealth of early works, the displays in the Böhm Saal change from time to time to show them all. I am fortunate to own one of his early lino-cuts, as well as a couple of etchings.
Planned are future shows with other artists from his times.
