This is my entry for #beautifulsunday created by @ace108. Last week the weather has been extremely hot with heat wave sweeping in South-East Asia. So, I tried to get to Sathorn bridge to have a walk and taking photos of the sunset. But by the time I climbed up those steps, the sun managed to hide behind thick clouds. The sun was playing trick with me!
I think the sun overheard my complaints about being too hot; so he decided to hide from me instead of showing a colourful display in the evening. Fortunately, this helped in lowering the heat down while the strong wind made for a nice walk along the bridge.
I stood in the middle of the bridge, having a good time taking photos on the left and right sides of the river. The tall thin glassy skyscraper is called the River Tower. On the opposite side of the River sits the Shangri-la hotel, with the State Tower in the middle of the two wings of the hotel.
The dilapidated skyscraper on the right is called the ‘Ghost Tower’ which is a well known venue for adventurers or tourists who seek exciting challenge to climb up to the top for fantastic views of the river and dramatic sunset. You could find many videos about the Unique Tower (Ghost Tower) on YouTube.
สัปดาห์ที่แล้วอากาศที่กรุงเทพฯร้อนอย่างโหดมาก เราทั้งบ่นปนสวดมนต์ อ้อนวอนขอให้มีฝนมาตกหนักๆ เพราะกระแสคลื่นความร้อนปกคลุมทั่วเอเซีย เราสงสารต้นไม้และพื้นดินที่แห้งแล้งมานานมาก แม่น้ำก็แห้งมากกว่าปีก่อนๆที่ต่างจังหวัด พอเราจะออกไปเดินเล่นถ่ายรูปที่สะพานตากสินเท่านั้น พระอาทิตย์ก็เล่นซ่อนหากับเรา กลับไปหลบหลังแผ่นเมฆหนาแน่น เราไต่บันไดขึ้นไปจนถึงระดับถนนกับสะพาน เดินไปตามสะพานที่ค่อนข้างเงียบเหงา ไม่มีคนมาจองที่ถ่ายรูปเหมือนสมัยก่อน แม่นํ้าเจ้าพระยาก็แทบไม่มีเรือแล่น ทำให้ดูกว้างมากกว่าเดิม เราถ่ายรูปตึกชื่อ แม่น้ำที่มีกระจกสีเขียวทั้งสองด้าน ตรงข้ามเป็นโรงแรมแชงกรีล่า บนสะพานลมพัดแรงมากจนเกือบหอบเอาหมวกแก๊บไปกับสายลมด้วย ยืนเงียบๆมองดูท้องน้ำและความเจริญของกรุงเทพฯ ช่างดูเงียบเหงามาก ไม่รูว่าต่อไปในอนาคต ชีวิตของผู้คนจะสามารถฟันฝ่าอุปสรรคไปได้กันขนาดไหน
Standing quietly looking at the movements of water and a few boats passing by, I could not help feeling a bit lost. The world is not the same after this big incident of coronavirus. The old world that I knew is being transformed into an empty world full of uncertainty and sudden changes. Everything is very quiet and held in suspension; it makes me feel like the calm before the storm.
I walked down to the pier to take more photos of the river and the pier. Looking at the unexpected kindness and compassion expressed by ordinary people towards others in time of need has raised my hope for a mitigating future. Of course, there would be lots of problems and more sufferings starting from next month when all the financial systems of debts and credits would start rolling again. Some people will lose their houses, some will lose their pickup trucks, many will not lose their jobs. But I hope the inner compassion and flexibility of all the good people would be united in doing their parts in helping others to sail through this terrible storm as safely as possible.

Yup! If the sun could reduce the heat dial by 40%, people could work outside the whole day!! That would be lovely.
What amazing views over the river the State Tower in photo number 4 seeing this tower reminds me of that movie Hangover 2 part of that movie was filmed at that tower the Helicopter hovering around the tower is that right ?
Wow! You have very good memory! Actually, I haven’t seen that film but I did check out the video! You are correct, that’s where that film took place! You’ll have to visit that Tower one day!

I remembered that big golden dome on top of the tower you must watch that movie you will get a good laugh. Hopefully will make it back to Thailand some day to see that tower in person it would have extraordinary views from the top floor.

My wife , myself and another couple we plan to visit Phuket later next year , i believe they named the island James Bond island after the filming of James Bond movie called "The Man With The Golden Gun" it will be interesting island to see and looks beautiful.

Oh! Very good! You are going to Phuket next year. You’ll have to get on small boats to get to James Bond Island. So many beaches and islands to explore there.
I haven’t been back to Phuket since I was at college! That’s was a school trip!
