Education role in life is very vital and every means should be implored to bring out the best in it in every aspect.
Education is life. It involves all the processes of transmitting and acquiring knowledge for useful living. Everyone is involved in education, directly or indirectly.
While traditional institutions, through the family and community life is largely responsible for formal education. The government, however does not carry the burden alone. There are other stakeholders that are involved.
But nowadays it seems the government is no more playing or should I say did not even realise their role in the development of education in the country. It is obvious that the educational sector have been left behind untouched and un work upon which should not be so.
Government have a role to play in the development if education in the country. Their contributions may be at different stages such as planning of education structure for the country, implementation of educational programmes, sustenance of the programs, evaluation and review of educational policies and programmes, among other things.
It is necessary to make disciples discover the different roles that should be played by different groups in the transformation of education in the country and to challenge them to play their part where and when necessary.
All sectors are important to members of any society but the importance of education cannot be overemphasized. If the education sector is effective, less will be spent on other sectors in terms of money, time and efforts.
As the health sector, the industry sector, the commerce sector and many more sector are important, so also the educational sector.
This perhaps us what informed why UNICEF recommends that twenty six percent of national budget to be voted for education therefore to improve and transform education, government has important roles to perform.
Having realised that the role of education in the society in the socio economic and political development of Nigeria is indispensable, the federal government has adopted education as an instrument par excellence for affecting national development.
In order to accomplish this laudable objective, the federal government formulated a national policy on education, which specifies the objective of each level of education. Nursery, primary, secondary and tertiary. The federal government recognise and encouraged the participation of private individuals and organization at all levels. (National, state, and local levels) of the nation.
We have several private nursery, primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions belonging to individuals and non governmental organization.

This is a welcome development that has made education interesting and competitive and has led to increase in the quality of education.
Formulation of policies should be one of the government roles in transforming education in the country.
Policy is used to designate the manner of governing a national or an organization. It is a system or measure which the leadership of an establishment adopts or pursues as been adapted to the interest of the establishment.
Educational policies are formulated by the government in line with the overall vision of the county's leadership. Educational policies are carefully structured to address the shortcomings in different sectors of the country and aid positive transformation of the entire nation.
