AI could be the key to solving the fertility crisis. The problem today is not that couples aren't having children; it's that men and women aren't forming couples in the first place. While the internet and the general social isolation it causes are partially to blame, a deeper issue is late-stage feminism and hypergamy. Hypergamy is the natural inclination for women wanting to marry higher-status men. But when women are in the workplace and have the same jobs as men, or even better jobs, that shrinks the pool of potential men who are higher status than women.
The entire feminist movement can be seen as a result of capitalism, industrialization, and technology. The feminist movement was only possible because of inventions like the vacuum cleaner, washing machine, dishwasher, and microwave--tools that saved enormous amounts of time women previously spent taking care of the household. After those chores were able to be automated with technology, women had more free time to get jobs and enter the workforce.
We are now in the late stage (multiple generations) of what happens when mass amounts of women enter the workforce to compete with men. The result is that women see themselves as equals, or oftentimes superior to most men. Because of hypergamy, women don't want to date men who are equal in status to them, let alone inferior. Hence the fertility problem.
So how can AI solve this? Just as technology enabled women to enter the workforce back in the 1950s and 60s, AI will replace all the email jobs women now do, so that women will be unemployed at home again. If the majority of women will be at home on UBI, that would even the playing field for men. More importantly, it would give women more free time to devote to pursuing mates, which is really what they would rather be doing anyway.
A large number of women are on antidepressants and other pharmaceutical medications because they are unhappy working their pointless jobs. They were deluded by the feminist movement into thinking that working jobs like men would make them happy. But that was not the case. Nothing would make them happier than having a husband and children and running the household to take care of them. That's the way it was for the majority of human history. AI can help make that happen again.
