The Hydra Hunting

in #fiction3 years ago

The battle was nearing an end. The town of Witchville, a collection of mostly women, was sieging a hydra. It had brought terror to the town, with its feline heads, sharp claws and frightening hiss.

It had inhabited this lake for as long as anyone could remember. If it hadn't been for the prosperity of its nearby city, it would have been forgotten by people.

Farmer Steve whispered to his wife Martha, "If we kill it, we could feast on its meat for days. I'm scared, but not enough to let it live."

Martha nodded in agreement. There were several hideous green scabs on her face, probably caused by earlier quests.

Hyrul, the summoning master, proudly approached them. She was in a long jet black robe with yellow diamond patterns on it. She carried a brown rod, which she used as a staff. The left side of her face was hidden by blaze goggles, while the right one was hidden by a veil. "The warlock said you'd agree with him, but he won't listen to me," she said.

A warlock was blind in his left eye, and was dressed in a black robe. He was constantly blinking because he didn't wear glasses.

"The hydra is the witch's second favorite meal, and she has a grudge against us for our attempts to kill it. I suggest we surrender. Just take off your clothes," a skinny old farmer shouted.

"What?!" Farmer Steve exclaimed, drawing his shotgun.

"Witch Kathy says that my guesses are always correct. And you've been tricked," the warlock replied.

"Ok, we'll throw you in first, and then we'll fight our way to the lake," a stout grown man said.

Suddenly, the witch shot fireballs at the men, while trying to hit the hydra. The battle was nearing an end. The town of Witchville, a collection of mostly women, was sieging a hydra. The warlock was blinded by the power of the fireball, which erased his vision. He ran towards the woods, with his eyes open because he was allowed to close them if he felt it might be too painful. The witches were tired after the fight, so they held religious practice for a time and struck some poses, and performed some cleansing rituals. "You have really done well," a witch said. "Everyone has accepted our judgment. Now we'll feast on the hydra's remains, and then turn the town into a palace. We'll celebrate this victory with our river rituals and boat races. Only then will the villagers stop coming."

The warlocks would come to return the sight to the warlock, and the old blind warlock would be given a salary and retirement pension and would be the mayor of the new city. "I'm going to hold onto my heart so I don't get eaten," the warlock replied.

"Last, you're holding the dead hydra," the warlock shouted to her followers.

"What is he saying?" Hyrul asked.

"He's saying we're not going to eat it. He says we all have to hold our hearts," the priestess replied.

"But we're great at religious practices. This shouldn't be too hard," the priestess said.

"Don't we have to hold our hearts afterwards?" the priestess asked.

"That's what he said," the priestess shouted, loudly.

The witch was a little bit more senior, and she always knew better and did better. All the maidens were slightly older than the witch because they were experienced from using the trackers, transporters, and translators. Their knowledge was only dwarfed by the witch, who knew all the ancient and modern spells, and could do them all perfectly. She stood up and looked around. There were many girls in front of her, and they all looked stupid and old. "I don't understand! Why are you all holding your hearts, and what are you holding on to? What are hearts, and why are they important?" she asked.

"Summoning master, this is what our magic is based on," an old man explained.

"Oh my god. I never heard of it," the witch replied. "Summoning master, this is what our magic is based on," an old man explained.replied the witch. "I don't understand! I'll go find him."

"The warlock went into the woods to find out what was happening in the town, with the witches, and to find the eyes. He arrived at a grassy field, where he saw all the figures of the maidens holding their hearts. "What are you doing? This is ridiculous. Can the witches really do that?" He wiped off his face, and stood up, high on the tree, and said, "I don't think so. Just pull yourselves together, hold your hearts and get into the boat." "That's impossible," the witch replied.

"Then don't eat the hydra," the warlock said.

"That's why the villagers won't come here," the farmer answered.

"Oh but they will when they discover the hydra. We'll certainly report it to them. And we'll give each of you half a hydra. Also, the hydra is a major source of tourism. You'll get to eat twice as much," the warlock replied. "That's impossible," the witch replied. "Then don't eat the hydra," the warlock said.answered the farmer." And so they traveled into town, each one carrying half a hydra. They went to the church, the market, the bazaar. Some went to the lakeside and built a grand tent to put the hydra in front of.
