Capsule Film Review: Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982)

in #film6 years ago

1982 is often named as the best year in the history of science fiction cinema. One of the contributions to such reputation is Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, second part of the first Star Trek film series, widely regarded as the best film in history of franchise. Written and directed by Nicholas Meyer, the plot builds on the original show, namely 1967 episode Space Seed, with Ricardo Montalban repeating the role of Khan Noonien Singh, genetically engineered superhuman who again fights Captain Kirk (played by William Shatner) and the crew of USS Enterprise. Plot, in which Khan uses terraforming device as a weapon, is relatively simple and well-used for the series of exciting action scenes and the emotional finale is one of the most memorable moments in Star Trek history.

First Contact has always been my favourite Star Trek movie, but if we're talking about the original cast movies it's a toss up between The Voyage Home or The Undiscovered Country.
