Monthly Fitness Update (July 20)

Another sore update for me personally this month as I have continued to be overwhelmed with work from the home office which has limited my time to focus on my fitness and health. During the early lockdowns, I had wondered why it was so difficult for many to adjust but I have come to understand some of the challenges under these circumstances. While I have always been good at finding time, the number of tasks needing my attention has expanded as of late. Unfortunately, that has always meant leaving myself for last.

Despite the challenges with time management, I have continued to find ways to remain active daily although the intensity has definitely diminished. However, the reason has been that I have gotten back in line to be on a better diet staying away from Carbs. It has only been two weeks now but the fact I was able to get away after a month of having it in my diet is positive. The first week was tough and it challenged my energy which impacted the intensity of my workouts but I have been able to raise it once again over the end of the month.

Overall, I achieved most of my targets for the month of July and even included some activities I had not done in a while like some cycling outdoors. I think the variety can help although the weather has not been very helpful given the times I have available to workout. Mornings continue to be my preference so it really limits my ability to do anything different than get on my treadmill. I continue to think that the lack of weight training is a big part of my lackluster results in terms of weight and look. I may have to consider an in-home option soon as it does not seem like the gym will be an option any time soon.

I have also gotten used to being more free with my activities as I no longer need to carry my phone everywhere as the @actifit app updated its version to use my wearable device. Although it has been a liberating experience, it feels like it is more difficult to get activity registered on most days as getting to the daily goal is more difficult. However, I do not mind as it serves as more motivation to be more active which is the goal at the end. The lack of time has distanced me away from the community online where a lot seems to be happening; so I hope I can catch up soon enough.

Overall, a month not up to my standards but it has surely been a trade-off with everything else happening around me. Balancing priorities continues to be difficult under the circumstances but at least I continue to be self-aware of the changes I need to strive for. Remaining active continues to be a success I am demonstrating although not at the intensity needed to improve. It will at least serve as a better point to improve from than otherwise being inactive. More than halfway through the year and my 2020 goals seem far but I never give up!
