Didier Drogba retires from professional football (UPDATED)

The football world waves goodbye to another legend – former Chelsea and Ivory Coast hitman Didier Drogba. 40-year-old striker announced his retirement from professional football after completing the season with USL outfit Phoenix Rising FC. In his farewell match Didier scored only a yellow card.

During his incredible 20-year-long senior career the Ivorian role-model striker has offered his services for such clubs as Le Mans, Guingamp, Marseille, Shanghai Shenhua, Galatasaray, Montreal Impact and lately Phoenix Rising. But, of course, the player will be always primarily recognized as a Chelsea legend who scored remarkable 104 goals for the Blues. won 4 Premier League titles and made a crucial impact that allowed the Blues to lift up the Champions League trophy in 2012.

The list of club trophies to be continued with 4 FA Cups, 2 Community Shield titles, 3 League Cups, 2 Premier League Golden Boots, 1 Turkish Super Lig title, 1 Turkish Cup. 1 Turkish Super Cup.

For 12 years of service on international lever Drogba netted no less than 65 goals for his country in 104 caps before retiring in 2014. He was honored as African POTY 2 times as well.
