Cold beginning
Drowsy feet carrying a freezing heart
Sit, breathe, focus
Clean the old ashes
Rip into pieces a container
Light it on fire
Feed it, feed that fire
Don't seek shelter
Endure the cold
Breath deeper, hang in there
Patience, things are changing
At last, warmth
It's value unsurpassed by anything
The moment of truth
Is when the basic things of life
Are appreciated as divine protection
Sounds like a poem about something emotional but it's actually just me beginning the day which in this case was so cold that the water outside the house was frozen.
It gets tough on these days. So tempting to just stay in bed, wait for the cold to go away. But i already tried that some time ago and it's not such a good idea because when you start getting hungry, you become cold AND hungry, which is twice as bad than just cold.
So i just pull myself up and use breathwork to keep it together until the fire is going. If i could only finish covering the missing window spaces with glass and cob it would help a lot to keep the warmth inside through the night. But the days are short and the cold doesn't invite to do much cob work.
Funny how last post i was feeling so good and motivated and now I'm just surviving again. As i said before, the weather shapes you. But it's ok, i know this will pass and then comes the warmth again which makes me so grateful and positive again.
Hope you're enjoying warmth and good food today. In these days i realize how much I've taken those things for granted many times in my life. But also, it's good to miss them every now and then, clean your body, strengthen your will. Indulging too much leads to corruption and disconnection from spirit so ascetism is good as well.
Don't usually upload selfies but i didn't take pictures of today's activities so this will do. Besides i like how i look, I'd say I've aged like wine but that would be a bit narcissistic hahaha

Did something happen to your windows? I remember cold mornings when camping, my instinct was to burrow deeper into my sleeping bag, lol. Getting up was like jumping into a cold pool of water. Come to think of it, when the heat has gone out in my apartment, using the toilet feels that way too, ha ha.
A friend of mine spent a year in Japan teaching, and she said that the toilet was not heated like the rest of her apartment, so it was always freezing. I wondered how the pipes didn't freeze!

There's several windows yet to be placed, those spaces are covered with plastic which helps but is obviously not so insulating. Placing windows in this structure is a hassle because the willow used to build it isn't straight, it has it's curves and quirks so each window is a specific design.
Don't be sorry though haha, it's all part of the adventure, a little struggle reminds me of how strong I am :)
And yeah, bathrooms often have that issue, or windows are kept open and they turn into a fridge. It's funny I go outside at night to the bathroom and it's not such a big deal for me, but starting the day when it's frozen outside gets hard often.

I understand what it's like to live in a poorly insulated home. Although I did have windows the bus I lived in in Ireland was not insulated so well and when the fire went out, it was freezing.
But it passed, like you have said.
