First, there is flame. Then a hand reaching in to turn her lungs inside out, searing her unconscious. After a while light, voices. Far away, someone screaming as she's lowered into the soft, cool water.
‘But she can hear me, right?’ Evron asked, staring into the softly lit green gel of the regeneration pod. ‘She knows I'm talking to her?’
The nurse beside him shook her head sadly. ‘We just don't know. There's neural activity but…’ She trailed off, gave in to an impulse of sympathy and took his hand.
‘But, I like to believe she can hear every word.’
Evron turned back to the tank, watched as a thousand nano-something’s swarmed over her scarred, burned flesh: repairing, rebuilding. Looked up from the unrecognisable ruin of her body to her perfect face, the eyes stuck open, tranquil and blue. Just for a second, something else, a flash as her pupils contracted sharply.
‘What the hell was that?’ he muttered, then shouted after the departed nurse.

As suggested for this one I've tried to incorporate an infinite loop (at least for one of the characters :))
