Hive works because people kept building on it, through bull markets, bear markets, and the quiet years. FreeBeings.io is here to keep doing that, deliberately. This is a standing project to research and build what makes Hive better: for the people who use it, and the developers who build on it.

We have history on Hive. FreeBeings.io founder (@imwatsi) built HAF Plug & Play, the Global Notification System, Hive DEX, and early work on Hive Attention Tokens here years ago. After a quieter stretch, we're back to building, and this project is part of that. Our Hive tools are open source on GitHub.
Here's how this project works: in the discussion room, you tell us your ideas, what's broken or missing and we bring ideas of our own. We prioritize together, in polls, what gets built next. Then we build it in the open and post the progress here. Surface, prioritize, build, repeat.
So, what would make Hive better for you?

Just for the record, you got paid almost $300k in the past, not delivering anything useful. Any plans to actually do something that was promised last time?
$300k 😳 😢
unbelievable
The tools were built and shipped, in the open: HAF Plug & Play (full V2 rewrite, plus the delegations and Podping plugs), the Hive DEX API, and GNS with user preferences and a demo frontend. The Podping service ran on Plug & Play in production, so "nothing useful" isn't accurate.
What is fair to hold me to is the integration gap, and it went both ways. HAF Plug & Play and GNS were built for Hive's frontends to plug into, but I never pushed for adoption, and they never reached for the tools either. So working tools just sat there underused.
My approach now is different. I'm not shipping infrastructure and waiting on others to plug in. FreeBeings DAO is built directly on that same infrastructure, so I'm my own first user of it, and I'm developing those same tools further.
The "$300k" figure is false, and it's on-chain for anyone to check. The DHF funded exactly three of my proposals:
Each one only paid while it was above the DHF funding line, so the paid totals come in below the approved maximums. Total actually paid: 152,775.94 HBD. Even at the full approved rate for every day, the maximum would have been 163,760 HBD. Either way it's around $153k, not $300k.
Still waiting for the NFT directory
The directory is live: https://hive-apis.freebeings.io/he-nft/docs/ — Hive Engine NFT balances, normalized display objects, activity history, and market state; try it with any account and tell me what Keychain needs, I'd rather shape it with you than guess.
164K taken and -$50K in value delivered.
Nah, just in it for the money, not the deliverables
Good good. Can I be part of this...
Tenks🙂
Yes, you can. It's all built in the open. Join at dao.freebeings.io with your Hive account and jump into the discussions. If there's something specific you want to help with, say so and I'll point you to where it fits.
I see tenks I join
