Howdy folks. Hope all is well in your neck of the woods. Earlier this afternoon a potential bug was found regarding the initial state of new accounts registering via Hive keychain on the Hive-Roller.com site and thus the site was taken down to investigate and fix potential future issues. While at this time it is unknown how long the site will be down for it can be estimated that by the end of the day today it should be back up and running.
This issue was only effecting a single new account and stem from a potential error in the asynchronous calculation of users investments when logging in for the first time. The only currency seemingly affected by this was the HIVE token on site however a full audit of all balances, invested amounts and total bankroll states will be conducted. Initial investigation leans towards only 1 account being affected before this issue was caught (thankfully) but a complete audit of the site balances and bankrolls will be performed before the site is brought back online in order to mitigate any potential calculation errors regarding investments on accounts.
In the new year the site will be getting an upgrade to update to a new Sequelize based ORM for data handling which ultimately should prevent issues like this from reoccurring. A sister site to HR on the RHOM network is already using this updated data handling architecture and seems to be doing quite well. Will update this post once the site is back online and patched. Sorry for the downtime.
EDIT: The site is back online and the bug appears to have been patched. A large amount of bloat was removed from the bankroll data which should help things as well as the way new user logins generate investment data has been modified to prevent this happening again until the site can be updated to a new data handling architecture.
