Drive Zed Ded
DZD is a new 3D PC game I'm working on set in a zombie ridden future. Read some background information here while I jump right into some of the highlights of what's gone on in the past few days.
Post Processing
Recently I discovered how post processing can add a lot to a video game's aesthetics. I've played around with different looks and I'm really enjoying the results so far, especially on the night scenes. Adding some weather effects with it has really made the game more immersible as well.
Take a look at this alpha test showing a few waves after applying some post processing techniques along with some fog. Just ignore the floating tree stump, it's been fixed. ;)
Weather
The addition of rain, fog, fireflies and other weather effects has added a lot to DZD as well. Below is an early test of some of those effects. These will (hopefully) be improved as the game development progresses.
Mutant
I created a nuclear waste area in a few levels and figured it would be a good place to add a giant mutant who's a little pissed off. His eyes were popping out of his head in this test and after spending hours trying to fix a model that wasn't broken, it turned out to be a mesh combiner script I was using. So that day I learned not to use mesh combiners on anything that's not static.
