Raised Beds From Scrap Wood. Easy Project.

in #gardening4 years ago

Hi Guy's, Today was a cold day on the plot, so cold it saw my with and children in the summer house with blankets over them.

I couldn't believe how different the weather had turned, but with many things still needing to be done, I decided to take the opportunity to make the most from the day.

I walked around the allotment, scratched my head, then walked a little more constantly thinking about what I should do next.

I know I have a list of things to do but it is putting them in order so that our allotment works and we have enough food growing before starting the big jobs.

My plan came to me as I saw some old wood laying on the ground around the back of my shed, I took the time to sort through it and found that I had some really long pieces that I thought would come in handy.

There were still nails in them, so they must have been from a large pallet or maybe even some fencing, Who knows?

I started taking the nails out and measuring them to make sure that they would fit the space I wanted them to go.

I had to saw some of the wood to size but it was easily done with a hand saw and using the bits of wood that were the length that I wanted started to mark and saw the others down to size.

using a claw hammer I pulled all the nails out I then made sure that they fitted the space when they were together, I was amazed that my measuring skills still worked as in the past I have been wrong.

I then nailed the wood together to make my raised beds.

I then took the first raised bed up to its new home, placed it flat on the soil, and clapped with joy, I was happy as the first one fitted like a treat.

The next job was to add the other two raised beds to the same plot place and make sure they all fitted, and to my surprise, I found that all three beds went in place like they were made to measure ;D

I decided to take a break and see what the family was up to, as they had been in the summer house for some time and all was quiet.

I found my son had gone around the back of the summer house and was looking for warms, this is his new hobby, it is great as he loves to look under rocks and things.

While we were around the other side of the plot a little red-breasted robin came and started to eat the warms that my son had dug up.

No joke this robin has been coming to and from the allotment for a few days, and it loves my plot, while we sat and watched him, he came so close to us with no fear, I could have put my hand out and grabbed him.

This robin kept coming back the whole time we were down there, I am thinking about getting him a little bird feeder for him to eat from as he seems to have made himself a home.

As we were leaving I took some pictures to show you what it looks like now that more work has been done down the plot.

I am really tired today, it has been another day of grafting, but I believe that it will be worth it once the crops are in the ground.

I have so much to do and I feel like time is getting away from me.

Maybe there is some kind of time machine that I can borrow, so I can go back to winter and sort out all the things that need doing before planting.

Anyway guys, until next time stay safe.
