Filipinos are so ingenious of their desserts. However, most of their desserts are usually based from rice since rice is very much available in the country.

One of this is "Dila Dila" which means Tongue Tongue in english because it is shaped like a tongue full of sugar & grated coconuts when it gets cooked.
Sometimes this dessert is also called "Palitaw" which means to float above the water because that is what really hapoens when you cook them. They rise up & float.

Traditional Palitaw is made from glutinous rice grains which are soaked in water overnight and then processed into a soft dough. The dough is formed into thin patties, cooked in boiling water, and then coated with grated coconut, toasted sesame seeds, sugar, and grinded peanuts

As their name which is from the Filipino root word “litaw” or “to surface” suggests, the patties will float or rise to the surface of the water when done.
