The idea of Socialism has begun to gain popularity in Americans below the age of 35. Bernie Sanders has basically led this movement towards socialism. Sanders calls himself a “democratic socialist.” The majority of Americans are scared of a full-on socialist society. This is why Sanders says he’s a “democratic socialist.” However, in recent history countries who’ve flirted with the idea of socialism have eventually always went completely into it. The majority of these countries have experienced failed economies. Then, they have converted to Totalitarianism, because of their collapsing economies. The United States hasn’t fallen completely into socialism just yet, but if they keep teasing it they just might.
America doesn’t want to end up like other failed countries who’ve tried out socialism. First of all, capitalism as we know it in America would be completely wiped out if we turn into a socialist country. Citizens virtually wouldn’t be allowed to own businesses. Cuba is currently one of the most socialist countries in the world. Cuba is filled with poverty and widespread starvation. However, their country isn’t power. The government just decides where the money goes. The government chooses its own government-ran grocery stores, hotels, and other businesses as places to send all the money. Although, they’ll have certain places for the rich and privileged and certain other places for the poor and poverty struck. The rich and privileged have places full of groceries and extremely nice living situations, and the poor will receive places with little to no food or clean resources. America is going to be the next Cuba if we keep going down the road that we’re currently going down.

Socialism is all about quantity over quality. Everyone gets the same in socialism. It doesn’t matter how hard you work or how smart you are. Socialism will rule and control everyone in it. That’s the exact opposite of what the founding fathers intended for this great country. They made a country where you can make yourself into the richest person in the world if you had the dream to do it. The citizens of Cuba and other socialist countries don’t have the ability to accomplish their dreams.
Lastly, the people of America need to accept that Socialism can never be fixed. Time and time again there have been examples of socialist countries failing. The people of those countries have suffered, the economies have crippled, the food has disappeared, and there is no hope. The young people of the United States are the main ones leading our country to the brink of socialism. So, every young person in America please listen to this message, and choose to end socialism once and for all.
