Intro to Design Thinking: Volunteer Challenges & Opportunities
Design Thinking is a framework for aligning multi-disciplinary teams around the real needs of users. This approach helps facilitate problem-solving the generation and prioritization of ideas.  We will use design thinking throughout the workshop to generate ideas on how to grow and improve the BOINC community.  During this session we will learn how to do several design thinking exercises and apply them to generating ideas on how to recruit and retain volunteers.

Day 4 - Friday July 12th

Lakefront walk: As is a tradition with past BOINC Workshops, everyone is invited to participate in a group activity: a walk along Lake Michigan (weather permitting). 

Details will be confirmed the day prior depending on the weather forecast. The provisional plan is:
9:00am meet at the office building lobby, then get train to Montrose Beach (~40mins)
Train cost: $2.50 one-way or $10 for a 1-day pass. Tickets (“Ventra”) can be purchased at the train station or you can use mobile payment options. Details: https://www.transitchicago.com/fares/
Lakefront walk (~2.5 hrs)
Lunch at the Riverwalk (you will be responsible for paying for your own lunch.) 
The group activity will end after lunch (~2:30pm)
There will be a backup plan for inclement weather.
