Update on the pickle and jalapeno hopes.
I had started with five cucumber plants and have only seen one female (pictured). Because these are indoors, I have to catch the flower while it is open and pollinate it.
Two more plants are only inches high, started weeks ago, in order to have a harvest every month. Those seem healthier as they are in much deeper pots.
Jalapenos
These have been very slow to germinate and slower to grow. No signs of flowers or fruit at this point. They seem healthy though and my hopes are high. Six inches high :/
Tomatoes
They were in a short-wide pot like the plants in the above photo but they grew too big. I have had to separate them and re-pot them over the last few weeks. Hard to get the entire plant in the picture now, so I will show you the 'trunk' of one of my tomato trees.
It is approaching the thickness of the bamboo support pole next to it. No flowers or fruit yet.
The plants are inside because they are attacked by bugs if left outside. The bugs eat the leaves and get into the soil. I really don't want to use insecticide, soI brought them inside and changed out the dirt. I am working on many ways to get rid of bugs outside. Some designed for inside.
I can see some pizzas in your future.
