Lets discuss some easy ways to know if your computer is being hacked.
Antivirus Disabled
If your antivirus is disabled automatically then it may be the reason that your computer is under attack by a hacker that it is compromised. Disabling antivirus gives hackers a good chance to look around your computer and get into your information and may steal your data and passwords.
Fake Virus Messages
Well you may be familiar with these messages, like Your computer is being hacked, click on the link to secure your computer. These are actually the links that are being used by the hackers to get you into their claws. They want to scare you of the threat and grab you into their claws.
Ransom/ Payoff Messages
These are the kind of messages which sometimes you receive asking you to pay this much money to make your computer get fixed. One of my friend actually got the same message on his android mobile and they were demanding some money. So we uninstalled that hackers app from his apps and then it was no more. So you need to restart your computer or android app in order to get rid of it. But sometimes restart doesn't work.
Repeated Popups
Sometimes you start receiving Popup messages repeatedly, you need to check into your computer settings and if you see some of your settings are being changed, then you need to understand that your computer is being compromised.
Online Passwords Stop Working
This is indeed more troubled case when you try to login your online social website or any other online account. Hackers actually try to stop you from your account by changing it and steal the information. So to make your password more safe, try to make passwords more complicated.
Try to use uppercase, lowercase, symbols in your password. The more complicated your password it, the more it is better for you. Do not use your personal information in your passwords like your birthday, kids names and stuffs like that, because it expose you more to the hackers.
Uninvited Software Download
Sometimes you see some softwares start downloading without your approval. If you didn't scheduled it, nor it is from your own softwares which start updating, then you need to cancel it as soon as possible before it is downloaded. Because these type of uninvited softwares may be really lethal for your computer and your data.
Redirected Websites
If you are on the internet and searching for something and you start facing this problem of website links redirecting you to other websites and so on, then you need to shut it down and counter check your computer settings if something has been changed. Because are the phishing links by hackers which are there to trap you.
Unwanted New Toolbars
This is actually what I faced before I didn't know much about. If you see some new Toolbars without you physically installing it, and are unapproved by you, then you need to check into it on a serious note.
You need to remove it as soon as possible because these can also hack your online passwords and you know we all use Steemit very often, so we must be very much careful regarding this.
Spam Messages from Your Account
As you may have heard of the spam messages sent from one account to others without the approval of the real account owner. This usually happens on Facebook and Whatsapp.
If you see this kind of suspicious activity from your account then you need to double check your account.
Try to remind whether you clicked on a link before from your account or faced a suspicious activity. Try to change your password and make it more complex. Changing passwords randomly is also good.
YourMouse Start Moving By Itself
If you see your computer mouse start moving and clicking on stuff on your computer without being on Team viewer, then you must realize that you are screwed. Your computer is being in control of that hacker and probably too late.
We can counter all these threats with our awareness and safety measures.
