Jade Rogue Revisited

in #hearthstone4 years ago (edited)

Since Hearthstone revamped their ranking systems, I still only play to complete quests. I now hover around the mid-platinum to lower diamond league each month depending on how often I play.

So, we are revisiting Jade Rogue again. Except this time, I went for a more aggressive build. I seem to have a thing for playing less optimal decks for kicks and giggles. Here's the deck list:

General Strategy

The point of this deck is to utilize the Deathrattle synergy from Anka, The Buried. She enables combos involving Carnivorous Cubes on your larger Deathrattle minions. You create a sticky board that's difficult to clear that also sets up lethal.

To speed up this process, Greyheart Sages help you draw your deck. Most players wouldn't target your Jade Swarmers or Skyvateer in stealth mode.

I have chosen to add Sap and Fan of Knives to mitigate other aggressive decks. Some players prefer more offensive options such as Hoard Pillager or Cursed Vagrant.

Mulligan

Against aggressive opponents, look for your Backstab and Fan of Knives.

Against most other opponents, it would be wise to look for your card draw engine.

Other Things to Consider

  1. Teron Gorefiend is great at generating value. Use him to trigger the Deathrattles and replenish your board when he dies. But, be sure you have board advantage first.

  2. Spiritsinger Umbra is great at populating your board, especially after Anka goes off.

  3. Brann Bronzebeard is a red herring. Most opponents would remove him immediately. He can provide nice bonuses when in combo with the Greyheart Sages.

  4. Flexible spots in this deck: Sap, Fan of Knives, and the cards in the first 3 points.

Weaknesses

This deck cannot win against dedicated control decks in the long run. You need to play fast. Speaking of control decks, Plague of Death will be your bane. This deck is horrible against priests.

Secret Mages can ruin your game plan if you play into their traps.

Why not N'zoth?

In order to use N'zoth, the Corrupter, you would need a number of defensive Deathrattles. Without them, your hero is a sitting duck after one-play turn. In addition, cards such as cubes and Teron do not synergize well. It makes little sense to have empty cubes and Teron on the board.

Sort:

I used to play Hearthstone quite a bit and I still have my account I think. I was never fully committed to it though, so my cards were never that good. Plus the pace was just not fast enough for me. I still think it is a pretty cool game. I just don't have the time.

Haha, these days, I only log in every 2-3 days to do quests. That's it.
