Mochi Donuts

in Hive Food18 hours ago

Hi bloggers and food lovers, happy weekend! For this holiday, I’m making a sweet, chewy treat that’s a favorite among both kids and adults: donuts. But these donuts are made with mochi as the main ingredient, specifically glutinous rice flour which is why they’re called mochi donuts. Plus, they don’t need to rest, you can fry them right away. Alright, let’s get started

Ingredients:

Donuts:

  • 300 grams glutinous rice flour
  • 200 ml milk
  • 50 grams powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp margarine
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • a pinch of salt
  • parchment paper
  • cooking oil

Toppings:

  • 50 grams dark chocolate compound
  • 5 ml milk
  • sprinkles

Instructions:

Donuts:

  • Place 50 grams of glutinous rice flour into a small bowl

  • Add 50 ml of milk to it

  • Stir and mix the milk and glutinous rice flour

  • Steam the glutinous rice flour and milk mixture for 7 minutes until it forms a chewy mass

  • Let it cool and set aside

  • Prepare 250 grams of glutinous rice flour, powdered sugar, and baking powder, then place them in a bowl

  • Add the previously steamed glutinous rice flour and milk mixture, the egg, a pinch of salt, and the vanilla extract to the bowl

  • Knead the dough until well combined and smooth

  • Add the margarine, then knead the dough again until well combined

  • Take 10 grams of dough and roll it into a ball and place the dough on parchment paper

  • Shape the dough ball into a flower shape like this

  • Repeat until all the dough is used

  • Prepare the cooking oil and heat it up

  • When frying, make sure the oil isn’t too hot and fry the donuts over low heat

  • Cook until golden brown, about 5 minutes per batch

  • Remove and drain

Topping:

  • Melt the compound chocolate over boiling water

  • Then mix in the milk

  • Dip the donuts into the chocolate glaze

  • Sprinkle with sprinkles

  • The mochi donuts are ready to eat
