Straturday - 3 Speaking for the first time

in Guitar3 years ago

I thought I might give a police song a try. @steevc did one a while back (although I can't find it now. My hive searching skill are lacking) which I enjoyed and reminded me how good they were. Pretty sure it was "Message in a Bottle" which has those beautiful but painfully stretchy chords throughout the verses.

Looking through all of the stems I could find gave me "Can't stand losing you" as an option. I was surprised at how simple the cords were, but being a three piece band with a single guitar and no distortion it was tricky to play. There is nothing to hide behind here and the chords are really punchy so any mistakes with timing stood out like dog's balls.

I also saw other hivers using @threespeak as a platform to upload and host content, so I thought I'd give that a crack too.

So here it is, #straturday already and looking forward to the rest of a quiet weekend.

Have a good one people!

It's blocked! At least for me on my phone. I have had trouble with many a 3speak vid tho

I'm not sure I did it correctly... I think I actually posted it twice.

Here's one I prepared earlier.... 😁

Ah, that's better!! Too notch as usual! It's fast but I never recognise that song until the chorus!

Cool. I've played that one too, but hadn't tried the solo or the key change near the end. Just a good one to play at the pub. Some Andy Summers stuff is pretty had to play, but this is not too bad.

Hey Steve, I think I screwed this up with a double posting. When you do your videos with ThreeSpeak do you do the post from there with the upload and post it to Hive/Guitar?

I create the post on 3speak and set the community there. You can just type in 'Guitar' and it finds it. 3speak generally works well these days for me. I can sometimes get copyright issues with covers on Youtube, so I rarely post there these days.

Cool. That's what I did, but then went and posted it again from Peakd not realising that it was already there. Next time I'll just post the once. 😁

I've always had copyright claims on my videos on youtube, but never worried about it. I thought that any money that would have been given to me from youtube views would be given back to the copyright owner. Given that my clips usually get about 15 views this has never been too much of a worry for me.

Have you had other issues with covers on youtube or do you just get the same thing?

I once had a 'strike' against my account for covering a Supertramp song. I guess it depends on what lawyers they have working for them. That put me off posting on Youtube. I would never get many views there and I get more responses via Hive.

Wow, I've never had that at all. Must depend on the artist I guess. I've heard that the Eagles are copyright nazis and go after anyone covering their songs.

It did shock me at the time. I think it could be more about the lawyers than the bands in some cases, but I know Prince would go after any unauthorised videos. Thing is with Hive that we can be earning from it. If the artists were on here I could give them a share of the rewards, but they haven't found us yet.
