My Introduction to the Nigerian Hive Community

Got my banner designed by @themanualbot

Dear Hiveans,
Some might call it a re-introduction, but I term it an insight into my world, my pride, my country Nigeria.
My name is Oladoyin, an educationist, entrepreneur as well as a nutritionist, born and brought up in the South-Western region of Nigeria, a country located on the Western coast of Africa. We are regarded as the Giant of Africa, not far-fetched, my country is a nation of big people, big stars and everyone is important

Good People, Great Nation
Do you know there are over 250 ethnic groups in Nigeria? Each inhabits a territory considered to be its own either by right of first occupancy or inheritance. Out of the ethnic groups, there are three Major ones in the country: the Hausa, the Igbo and the Yoruba.
One of the numerous groups, the northern-dwelling Hausa have over the years become integrated with the smaller Fulani group with the majority of both Muslims. My sojourn to the Northern part of the country has broaden my thoughts about the country's lush vegetation. Another politically and large dominated group is the Yoruba of the South-Western Nigeria which I belong to. Ile-ife is considered as our ancestral home, a land of rich vegetation viable for cultivation. The third major ethnic group is Igbo of the South-Eastern Nigeria. LOVE IS THE ONLY RELIGION HERE

Cultural Beliefs and Moral Values
Each ethnic group has the customs they uphold, the moral values they imbibe in their wards and their relevance in day to day activities. Being a Yoruba girl one of the norms we were made to cultivate is learning medium of greetings, interacting with elders, fashion and ways of life. The Yorubas are prominent for our "aso oke", and while the Hausas have much preference for their local fabrics and the Igbos are known for "Apoche top or blouse and wrapper"

Delicacies
There are distinct delicacies for each culture, the dishes are appetite stimulating ranging from varieties of swallow (Pounded yam, Cassva flakes, Yam flour, Banana flour and many others) alongside sumptuous soups for each meal, not to forget Bush meat and palm wine for recreation purposes. Nigeria is widely known for our Jollof rice, it's a dish to try out.

Recreational Centres
All over the country there are various centres which have been serving as means of entertainment and tourist attractions. From Erin Ijesha Waterfalls which has 7 floors, each floor with ancient and historic features and with the compelling belief of the medicinal values of the water; to Idanre Hills which served as protection for Ondo Kingdom in the era of war; and to the Legendary Ikogosi Warm Spring

Other tourist attraction centres in Nigeria are:

  • Olumo Rock
  • Osun Osogbo Groove
  • Zuma Rock
  • Kanji Dam
  • Yankari Game Reserve
  • Obudu Cattle Ranch
  • Agodi Gardens; amidst others.

I am from a land with plenty of disruptions, with news full of scams and corruptions, where the common man suffers from poverty and hunger, yet no matter what, I'll keep our flag flying high

Kudos to @theycallmedan for the initiative
