What does HIVE mean to me?

Hive blog

Been away from steemit for a while, the atmosphere was for a period of time a mere reflection of its normal self. The community engagement and party-like interactive weather dried up, mainly due to the harsh cryptocurrency weather.

For a while I decided to take a break and contribute once in while.

Justin Sun had bought some steemit shares? That came as a hard news from a friend. Knowing his antics, Sun being a part of the steem ecosystem wasn’t a much acceptable news, this further dampened my zeal to get active on steemit again.
However, I believed his influence in the cryptosphere will bring back some vibes. Turned out my initial fear was the case.

The steem governance issues and the involvement of some top playing crypto firms and personalities once shed light on the strength of the steemit community and what I thought was once a lost character surfaced again—the community action. While the steem witnesses and the whole community continued to fight this unhealthy process, Justin Sun’s true character of centralization took the stages once again.

Fast forward to a couple of days ago, the steem token took a big leap and pumped over two times it’s former price in what is the most difficult time for global economy, drawing my attention once again to the steem blockchain. After a couple of research, I found out about the hive blockchain. Heaven at last? Seems more like it.

I had an indepth read about the hive project and it traditional cryptocurrency tokens which will be a reflection of the statistics on steemit. While the birth of a new set of cryptocurrency tokens was a very exciting news, the fact that we could make a shift from the ‘centralization-endangered' steem blockchain was even a more amazing news.

What the hive blockchain means to me? Numerous, of course, I’ll ride you through a couple of them, the list is inexhaustible, so here’s a few.

Another opportunity to do it better

Despite starting off on the hive blockchain with my profile details from steemit and an exact number of tokens holdings, the hive atmosphere feels relatively fresh to me. Like opening a new blank writing page in my old notebook. A chance to be more engaging, feel the zeal of people trying to make an impact on a new project and playing communal roles to ensure that a baby project grows in health to a sustained level. With hive it feels like another chance to try out new things and get modify things which didn’t really work in the previous attempts and previous platform.

Decentralization at it’s finest

Being created, pioneered and run by a group of people who understands the meaning and need for a decentralized community, the hive project is poised to once again paint the right image of one of the most popular concept in cryptocurrency and blockchain technology —decentralization.

Resistance of censorship and the freedom to air one’s views without restrictions or tangible constraints by third parties who have some interest in the issue being raise is a major step towards a decentralized information system. Absence of a central leader or leadership team unarguably creates a true community governance and democracy. Hive was created in an attempt to fight centralization and for sure decentralization is one of the most beautiful features.

Community action

Even Satoshi envisioned a community of people with equal rights on decision making on financial issues, wealth creation and other management associated activities. The majority of cryptocurrency projects seems to be deviating from this vision with more projects gradually becoming centralized and drifting from community-oriented decision making process. Apart from re-igniting community action in decision making, hive is poised to re-energize community interaction via social activities and interactions between a writer and the community of reader which the writer itself is a part of. Strong communities takes time to build and genuine community participation takes a whole lot of energy to sustain, to me, give is another opportunity to pursue this goal.

Content creators' paradise

Steemit was once a home for content creators, during its graceful days (which still persists a bit), content creators and producers of original works have enjoyed a great deal of enthusiastic audience, reward for work done and gain of experience via interaction with people of like minds. With hive boiling with these opportunities, it is for sure a new home for content creators, a chance to do it better and create a sustainable decentralized, community oriented platform for all.

The list is inexhaustible, for every feature of the hive project, an array of opportunities surface, it only takes time to realize just how big they are, the hive project at this stage needs a communal support and a long lasting dedication to keep it at the peak of its vibe.
