Browser Extension for Language Translation

in TheTerminal3 years ago (edited)

There are people on the Hive blockchain from all over the world and sometimes posts are written in a language we do not know. Sometimes we need to translate Urdu to Dutch, or Spanish to Ukrainian. Fortunately, there is a great solution which is easier than copying all text and pasting it into a website-based translator such as DEEPL, BING Translate, Google Translate, et al.

I found a browser extension that translates languages last year. At first, I was only using it occasionally, but it has been a more frequently-used tool in the past few months. So, I thought highlighting it here would help others.

There are two things to note:

  • This extension might be available for other browsers besides the one I use. Check under SETTINGS > EXTENSIONS in your preferred browser to see if it is available.

  • My preferred browser (Opera GX) is one of the ones built from the Chromium Webkit, so extensions for Opera GX will also work for the standard Opera browser as well as Edge, Brave, Vivaldi, Chrome, and several other Chromium-based browsers.

The following is a screenshot from the Opera Addons Library so readers can see the icon, the developer's name, and more information.

It is so easy to use! Merely highlight whatever text you wish to translate on any webpage and click the icon in the toolbar OR choose the option to translate the entire page. It is easy to set the "target" language to any language you prefer.

As with all translators, the best results are obtained if one refrains from using slang terms and regional idioms, but this translator seems to work a little better than most in that regard. It is also easy-to-use in the opposite direction, too, when crafting comments in your preferred language to leave on someone else's post in a different target language.

If anyone has positive experience with a different browser extension for translations, please let us know in the comments of this post!

 😊

It seems that it is a good extension to translate languages, I think I will use it

Normally use Google, but trust your judgement, so will give it a swing!

Did you go with google translate for your extention? Google should also make hair extensions.

Totally. Deepl is amazing. Well, I'm judging by Japanese to English and vise versa. Google produces complete gibberish doing that, but Deepl actually produces good sentences. It's incredible!

This is a great extension and I have honestly not found one that is any better! Thank you for putting it out there,

Another thing I do for translating is to translate it back into English to make sure that it is grammatically correct.

I use google!
Translators are so useful!

Thank you dear kittygirl I'l have a look at this. Just to mark the text instead endless copy and paste seems to be comfortable

Actually I using google translate @thekittygirl you know. It's very simply to translate to the other languages in the world.
