Kleiner Eisvogel ■ White admiral
Limenitis camilla (Linnaeus, 1764)
Der kleine Eisvogel ist ein Tagfalter aus der Familie der Edelfalter (Nymphalidae). Der Falter fliegt in den Monaten Juni und Juli in einer Generation. Die Weibchen legt seine Eier an die Blattunterseite der roten Heckenkirsche (Lonicera xylosteum) in schattigen Bereichen. Die Raupe frisst von der Blattspitze und lässt die Mittelrippe übrig. Im Herbst baut sich die Raupe aus eingerollten Blättern, ein Hibernarium in dem die Raupe den Winter verbringt. Mit dem Blattaustrieb der Heckenkirsche beginnt die Raupe im Frühjahr erneut zu fressen. Sie verpuppt sich als Stürzpuppe an der Futterpflanze.
_The white admiral is a butterfly from the family of Nymphalidae. The butterfly flies in June and July in one generation. The female lays its eggs on the underside of the leaves of the red honeysuckle (Lonicera xylosteum) in shady places. The caterpillar eats from the tip of the leaf and leaves the midrib. In autumn the caterpillar builds itself out of curled leaves, a hibernarium in which the caterpillar spends the winter. When the honeysuckle leaves sprout, the caterpillar starts to eat again in spring. It pupates as a pupa on the food plant.

🦋 Der Schmetterling, ist was die Nahrungsaufnahme anbelangt sehr speziell. Selten findet man ihn auf Blüten, an denen er saugt. Meistens kommt er auf den Boden und saugt an feuchten Stellen. Dort nimmt er Mineralien zu sich, die er für die Fortpflanzung benötigt. Eine besondere Anziehungskraft über Schweiß und Ausscheidungen von Tieren so wie Kadaver auf ihn aus. Gibt es auf einem Weg einen Kothaufen von einem Tier, so kann man sicher sein, der Eisvogel sitzt genau dort.
Es werden viele Lockmittel in Literatur und im Internet genannt, um Eisvögel und Schillerfalter anzulocken. Ich habe die unterschiedlichen Lockstoffe auch schon getestet. Letztendlich ist für mich die beste Methode, auf den Weg zu pinkeln. Urin lockt den Falter garantiert an. Ebenso anziehend ist Schweiß auf den Falter. Es ist nicht selten, dass er auf verschwitzten Kleidungsstücken sitzt und am Schweiß saugt.
🦋 The butterfly is very special in terms of food intake. It is rarely found on flowers that it sucks on. Usually it gets down on the ground and sucks on wet places. There it ingests minerals that it needs for reproduction. It has a special attraction to the sweat and excrements of animals and carcasses. If there is a pile of excrement from an animal on a path, you can be sure that the white admiral is sitting right there.
Many lures are mentioned in literature and on the Internet to attract white admirals and purple emperor butterflies. I have already tested the different attractants. In the end the best method for me is to pee on the way. Urine is guaranteed to attract the butterfly. Sweat is just as attractive to the butterfly. It is not unusual for him to sit on sweaty clothes and suck on the sweat.

Wenn er auffliegt, setzt er sich gerne auf Blätter am Wegrand. Ein solcher Ansitz ist für ein Foto natürlich interessanter als eine Wasserpfütze am Boden. Mit etwas Glück sitzt der Falter im Gegenlicht, sodass sich schöne Flares im Hintergrund ergeben. Wie so oft ist eine gehörige Portion Glück und viel Geduld notwendig.
When he gets caught, he likes to sit on leaves by the wayside. Such a hide is of course more interesting for a photo than a puddle of water on the ground. With a bit of luck the butterfly sits in the back light, so that beautiful flares appear in the background. As so often a good portion of luck and a lot of patience is necessary.

Drei Stunden war ich in dem Gebiet unterwegs. Leider ist mir an diesem Tag keine Aufnahme mit offenen Flügeln gelungen. Um euch diese Ansicht dennoch zu zeigen, greife ich bei meinem nachfolgenden Bild auf eine Aufnahme vom vergangenen Jahr zurück. Die Zeit der Eisvögel beginnt erst und ich hoffe in den kommenden Tagen auf weitere Tiere, die beobachten und fotografieren kann.

The time of the white admiral is just beginning and I hope to see more animals in the coming days to observe and photograph them.

Das der Eisvogel auch ein Schmetterling sein kann, war mir neu. Danke für diese wunderbare Aufklärung.
Gesehen habe ich ihn noch nie. Und wenn ich in der freien Natur pinkel, dann bekomme ich bestimmt Ärger - ist in Deutschland nämlich eine Ordnungswidrigkeit und kostet ein nettes Sümmchen, wenn ich mich nicht irre.

Zuerst mal vielen herzlichen Dank für dein Lob. Dass man in der freien Natur nicht pinkeln darf, war mir neu. So muss ich feststellen, dass ich schon mein ganzes Leben lang Ordnungswidrigkeiten begannen habe ohne es zu wissen. Jetzt ist mir wahrscheinlich das Ordnungsamt auf den Versen und verfolgt mich auf allen Wiesen, Wald und Flur. Das Blöde ist, wenn ich denen erzähle, dass ich so Schmetterlinge anlocke, glauben die mir erst recht nicht ;-)
Das ganze Leben ist ein Risiko, Schmetterlinge anlocken gehört ab jetzt wohl auch dazu 😂🤣
Wenn Du denen das erzählt halten die einfach gestrickten Ausführungsorgane Dich wahrscheinlich für plemmplemm und nehmen Dich gleich so einer Jacke mit, die man hinten auf dem Rücken verschnürt um Dich bei dem lieben Schmetterlingsdoktor vorzustellen... :o)
