Con las esperadas lluvias llega no solo el verdor de las plantas y sus anhelados frutos, también aparecen vistosos y curiosos animalitos y otros insectos, que si no tenemos cuidado y los tocamos por error o por curiosidad, nos dejarán una muy desagradable experiencia!
With the expected rains comes not only the greenery of the plants and their desired fruits, but also the appearance of colorful and curious animals and other insects, which if we are not careful and touch them by mistake or out of curiosity, will leave us with a very unpleasant experience!
Hay creaciones que solo se hicieron para admirarse y está es una de ellas, sus colores vivos son tan atrayentes y vivaces. No soy una experta en la materia, pero indagando un poco en la web encontré que en este tipo de Orugas mientras más llamativo sea su color más clara es su advertencia que "No debemos tocarlos"
There are creations that were only made to be admired and this is one of them, their vivid colors are so appealing and lively. I am not an expert on the subject, but digging a little on the web I found that in this type of Caterpillars the more striking is their color the clearer is their warning that "We should not touch them".
También leí que a esta especie se le llama "Oruga de la polilla de la seda" y su diseño no es así por simple casualidad, el propósito de sus 2 cabezas es confundir a sus enemigos. Se vale de órganos falsos y elegantes disfraces para desorientar!
I also read that this species is called "Silk moth caterpillar" and its design is not so by mere chance, the purpose of its 2 heads is to confuse its enemies. It makes use of false organs and elegant disguises to disorient!
Este tipo de Oruga tiene una cabeza falsa incluyendo a sus antenas simuladas para un mejor engaño, (parte inferior de la fotografía anterior☝️) cuando sus depredadores engañados ataquen allí, ella tendrá una mejor oportunidad de hacer su defensa. Y si está táctica fracasa no tiene de qué preocuparse, pues, las puas o espinas que tiene en su cabeza real, hará que su atacante la escupa viva! ¿Quien puede sentir placer comiendo espinas?! Sin duda la escupirá y ella tendrá una segunda oportunidad de seguir viviendo y engañando a quien busque comerla!
This type of Caterpillar has a false head including her simulated antennae for better deception, (bottom of the above photograph☝️) when her deceived predators attack there, she will have a better chance to make her defense. And if this tactic fails she has nothing to worry about, for, the spikes or thorns on her real head will make her attacker spit her out alive! Who can take pleasure in eating thorns! No doubt he will spit her out and she will have a second chance to continue living and fooling whoever seeks to eat her!
Por último también leí que se alimentan de hojas, que se clasifican en el orden de los insectos "Lepidoctera" que incluyen las mariposas diurnas y nocturnas! Podemos diferenciar a las orugas porque son típicamente blandas y cilíndricas. Y sus vivos colores nos advierten como mencioné anteriormente su alta toxicidad y desagradable sabor!
Finally I also read that they feed on leaves, which are classified in the insect order "Lepidoctera" which includes day and night butterflies! We can tell caterpillars apart because they are typically soft and cylindrical. And their bright colors warn us as I mentioned above of their high toxicity and unpleasant taste!
