RE: Big Wave Surfing at Mullaghmore, Ireland 🏄

in Sports Talk Social3 years ago

Jeepers, I'm not surprised you don't surf if that's the case. All we need to worry about here in Ireland is the odd jellyfish, some of which can actually kill you, but that rarely happens.

Man, the thought of a great white coming at me from below would freak me out. I can see why you prefer to stay inside the boat!

Thanks for the kind words and support as always.

We had a big surfing community at school and obviously over the years recognized the names of quite a few who had been attacked. Jelly fish I can handle as we have the Portuguese Man Of War here which can also kill you. When I was growing up we used to find the shark eggs which look like seaweed pouches all over the shore line. False Bay is known for it as they have Seal Island not far away which is their food source.

Sorry missed this response somehow. Ya the Man of War is the ones we sometimes get here too. Scary feckers.... but not a patch on sharks beneath you... Can understand why that would put you off surfing where you are.
