Corona is still going strong with new cases getting reported but, that hasn't stopped one of the Majors of Tennis Tournaments i.e. French Open.
Rolland Garros is hosting the 2021 French Open as usual and the Day 1 matches got completed with some of the seeded players making it thru to round 2 and some of them weren't lucky though.
Before we go thru the important results from Day 1, let's have the tournament seeding for men and women.

Day 1 Men's Singles results:

Day 1 wasn't good for few of the seeded players with as many as 4 players lost out and another player (Milos Raonic) withdrew leaving 27 players from those 32 seeds.
Players who lost out are Fourth seeded Dominic Thiem, Sixteenth seeded Gringor Dimitrov, Nineteenth seeded Hubert Hurkacz and Twenty Fifth seeded Dan Evans.
Seeded players who moved thru to round include stefanos Tsitsipas, Andrey Zverev, Roberto Bautista Agut, Pablo Carreno Busta, Christian Garin, Karen Khachanov and Fabio Fognini.
Many top players who play so well on other grand slams like Wimbledon, US Open and Australian Open struggles on the clay courts of Rolland Garros and those top ranked players include even the DJoker, Roger Federer, but Rafael Nadal has been the most successful clay court player with Thirteen of his 20 titles won in French Open.
That also means, Rafael Nadal hasn't been that successful on other grand slams because Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer have been strong and one of those will always be there in the finals to defeat Rafael Nadal and his 8 Runner Up titles have all been against either Federer or Djokovic.
It's interesting that Rafael Nadal's statue has been unveiled just before the tournament started at Rolland Garros in his honor.

Twenty Seventh seeded Alison Riske was the player to withdrew.
Naomi Osaka hasn't had good results in Rolland Garros with Third round appearance being her best and she will be eager to improve that.
Other notable players like Serena Williams, Victoria Azarenka, Petra Kvitova will be giving tough fight to Ashleigh Barty.

Sports hasn't been the same as before the pandemic Corona CoVid started as it affects players to practice and organizers can't organize the tournaments due to restrictions and it's a big loss to not just for the players and organizers but also for viewers.
Just wishing the Corona getting controlled if not fully eradicated soon and sports becomes normal once again as soon as possible.
Thanks for going thru this and I hope you too like the tennis sports and enjoy watching those awesome players in action at Roland Garros.

Wishing all good Monday and a nice week ahead :)
