RE: The Best All-Time West Indies XI

Nice list you have compiled here and a nice reflection in time for me as I was fortunate enough to see all that you mention play and meet about 50% of them.
The only other one that came to mind missing while reading was Big Bird, Joel Garner one of the coolest people to ever walk onto a cricket field and deadly with a ball in hand. But your 11 is good enough :)
I am a die hard Aussie cricket fan but yes all the ones you mentioned and others where always good entertainment and made a match interesting.

If I were picking a 12th man it would have been Garner. As I say, I have a long-standing admiration for Ambrose and that’s what won it when selecting a tall, hit the pitch type bowler. I guess the other option would be to just go with 4 quicks and drop Lance Gibbs which would be in keeping with how the Windies played much of their cricket during that golden era.
What an honour to have met so many greats of the game! My only claim to fame as far as WI are concerned is that I was once coached by Gus Logie. Not sure you’d be able to mention him in the same breath as some of the batsmen above but he was a damn fine fielder!
