Real Madrid had almost no midfielders because Valverde is currently sick with covid, and Kroos and Modric are taken a rest after playing a lot of matches in the past few weeks so this way, they can be in optimal condition for the Champions League semifinal against Chelsea next week.
It is fair to say Real Madrid had a weak midfield in this match, just like in the previous match they had a weak defense, but in this case, Benzema had an awesome performance that allowed the team to win.
How was the match?
I was surprised to see how little Cadiz was able to accomplish given Real Madrid's weak midfield. They managed to do a lot of shots but their aim was always bad. Courtois didn't even have 1 important save throughout the match, and this speaks volumes of how accurate Cadiz's players aim is when attempting to score goals.
Real Madrid played with 3 central defenders, Nacho and Militao, who were great during the matches against Liverpool and Barcelona, and Varane, who is finally available to play again after getting sick with covid. The 3 of them did a solid job in the defense as usual.
The best players in the match were Benzema and Vinicius, but especially Benzema. Rodrygo was also playing and I always love watching both Vinicius on one side and Rodrygo on the other because they are very electric players and it is impossible for the rival defense to control them both.
The first goal came after a penalty created by Vinicius. A defense steps on his ankle and after checking the VAR it was very clear that was a penalty. Benzema was the one in charge of it and he didn't miss it. Great shot and it went in.
From that moment Real Madrid had an excellent 10 minutes period, because between the 30 minutes mark which is when they scored the penalty, and the 40-minute mark they had already scored all their 3 goals. The penalty certainly gave them a confidence boost that allowed them to destroy their rival so quickly.
The second goal came after a good move from Benzema in the left side of the pitch. He crossed the ball and no one would have guessed who scored with a header because this player never scores but today he did. Odriozola was in the penalty box when Benzema crossed the ball and he didn't have any defender covering him so the ball went straight to his head and from there it went straight inside. A great goal with a surprising goal scorer. This happened at the 33-minute mark, just 3 minutes after Benzema's penalty goal.
At the 40 minute mark, they scored the final goal after Casemiro received the ball inside the area, crossed it to Benzema, and with a good header it went inside once again. 2 goals for Benzema and 1 assist in just 40 minutes. This is easily one of his best performances in years.
After the third goal, Real Madrid kept attacking, especially the Brazilians Vinicius and Rodrygo but they were much more relaxed now. The victory was almost a certainty and they have other important matches to look for.
In the second half, Zidane made a lot of changes in order to prevent some players to accumulate excessive fatigue and the match continued its natural path. The second half was boring for the most part, and the only good thing was Zidane making those changes.
Whats next?
Champions League semifinals are next Tuesday and Wednesday so there is still one week more to wait. This weekend there are more league matches and I will try to watch at least one of them.

Es justo decir que el Real Madrid tuvo un mediocampo débil en este partido, al igual que en el partido anterior tuvo una defensa débil, pero en este caso, Benzema tuvo una actuación impresionante que permitió que el equipo ganara.
¿Cómo estuvo el partido?
Me sorprendió ver lo poco que pudo lograr el Cádiz dado el mediocampo débil del Real Madrid. Lograron hacer muchos tiros pero su puntería siempre fue mala. Courtois ni siquiera tuvo una parada importante durante todo el partido, y esto dice mucho de la precisión con la que apuntan los jugadores del Cádiz cuando intentan marcar goles.
El Real Madrid jugó con 3 centrales, Nacho y Militao, que estuvieron muy bien durante los partidos ante el Liverpool y el Barcelona, y Varane, que finalmente está disponible para volver a jugar tras enfermarse de covid. Los 3 hicieron un trabajo sólido en la defensa como de costumbre.
Los mejores jugadores del partido fueron Benzema y Vinicius, pero sobre todo Benzema. Rodrygo también estaba jugando y siempre me encanta ver a Vinicius por un lado y Rodrygo por el otro porque son jugadores muy eléctricos y es imposible que la defensa rival los controle a los dos.
El primer gol llegó tras un penalti creado por Vinicius. Un defensa le pisa el tobillo y tras comprobar el VAR tenía muy claro que era penalti. Benzema fue el encargado de ello y no se lo perdió. Gran disparo y entró.
A partir de ese momento el Real Madrid tuvo un excelente lapso de 10 minutos, porque entre los 30 minutos que es cuando marcó el penalti, y los 40 minutos ya habían marcado sus 3 goles. El penalti ciertamente les dio un impulso de confianza que les permitió destruir a su rival muy rápido.
El segundo gol llegó tras una buena jugada de Benzema en la banda izquierda del campo. Cruzó el balón y nadie hubiera adivinado quién marcaba de cabeza porque este jugador nunca marca pero hoy sí. Odriozola estaba en el área de penalti cuando Benzema cruzó el balón y no tenía ningún defensor cubriéndolo por lo que el balón se le fue directo a la cabeza y de ahí se fue directo adentro. Un gran gol con un goleador sorpresa. Esto sucedió en el minuto 33, solo 3 minutos después del gol de penalti de Benzema.
En el minuto 40, marcó el gol definitivo después de que Casemiro recibiera el balón dentro del área, lo cruzara a Benzema y con un buen cabezazo volviera a entrar. 2 goles para Benzema y 1 asistencia en tan solo 40 minutos. Esta es fácilmente una de sus mejores actuaciones en años.
Tras el tercer gol, el Real Madrid siguió atacando, sobre todo los brasileños Vinicius y Rodrygo pero ahora estaban mucho más relajados. La victoria era casi una certeza y tienen otros partidos importantes muy pronto.
En la segunda parte, Zidane hizo muchos cambios para evitar que algunos jugadores acumularan un cansancio excesivo y el partido siguió su camino natural. La segunda parte fue aburrida en su mayor parte, y lo único bueno fue que Zidane hizo esos cambios.
¿Qué sigue?
Las semifinales de la Champions League son el próximo martes y miércoles por lo que aún queda una semana más de espera. Este fin de semana hay más partidos de liga e intentaré ver al menos uno de ellos.
