It's been a year since Covid 19 was announced and its impact has been remarkable in society, to the point that it has paralyzed the world economy, but well that is something we all know. Here is a summary of what the coronavirus has caused in sports.
The public where it went?
The way we used to consume sports shows has changed, I hope this is not forever. The most notable impact at first sight is the absence of an audience in the sports coliseums.
The noise of the public, the fans celebrating, the fans cheering for their teams, the shouts, tears of joy and also of sadness and also the elegance of many people who used to gather to watch a sports game, all that has been lost. For me it was a bit strange not to be able to see the gentlemen who come to watch the tennis games, especially at Wimbledon, first because it was not played this year, second because it would have been played without an audience, it is curious to see the ladies, with their hats generally white, very elegant, always attentive to the game.
The public has left the stadiums, now encouraging from homes, the passion remains the same.
Ya llevamos un año desde que se anunció el Covid 19 y su impacto ha sido notable en la sociedad, a punto que ha paralizado la economía mundial, pero bueno eso es algo que ya todos conocemos. Acá un resumen de los que ha causado el coronavirus en el deporte.
¿El público donde se fue?
La forma en la que consumíamos los espectáculos deportivos ha cambiado, espero que esto no sea para siempre. El impacto más notable a simple vista es la ausencia de público en los coliseos deportivos.
La algarabía del público, los hinchas celebrando, los fanáticos alentando a sus equipos, los gritos, lágrimas de alegría y también de tristeza y también la elegancia de muchas personas que se reunían a ver un juego deportivo, todo eso se ha perdido. Para mí fue algo extraño no poder ver a los señores que llegan a ver los juegos de Tenis, especialmente en el Wimbledon, primero porque no se disputó este año, segundo porque se hubiese jugado sin público, me es curioso ver a las señoras, con sus sombreros generalmente blanco, muy elegantes, siempre atentas al juego.
El público se ha ido de los estadios, ahora alienta desde los hogares, la pasión sigue siendo la misma.
And the Olympic Games for when?
I remember that at a rather difficult time during the pandemic, there were unfortunate statements by high Japanese leaders who assured that the Olympic Games would be held normally, but today we know that this did not happen.
The Olympic Games are an event that I personally like very much, I believe that it is the event that brings together top athletes from all over the world, in addition to having values such as unity, equality, and a sportsmanship that unites and shortens barriers of differences.
Now returning to the Tokyo Olympics which have been postponed until next year, I hope they can be held in good shape and if not, if the event puts athletes and spectators at risk, then they should be cancelled.
¿Y los juegos olímpicos para cuándo?
Recuerdo que un momento bastante duro durante la pandemia, hubieron desafortunadas declaraciones de altos dirigentes japoneses quienes aseguraban que los juegos olímpicos se iban a efectuar con normalidad, hoy en día sabemos que eso no pasó.
Los juegos olímpicos son un evento que personalmente me gustan muchos, creo que es el evento que congrega a atletas de altísimo nivel de todo el mundo, además de tener valores como la unidad, la igualdad, y un deportivismo que se une y acorta barreras de diferencias.
Ahora volviendo a los Juegos Olímpicos de Tokio los cuales se han postergado hasta el próximo año, espero que puedan llevarse a cabo de buena forma y de no ser así, si el evento pone en riesgo a los atletas y espectadores, pues que se cancelen.
Sports leagues cancelled
There were several leagues that had to be stopped because of Covid, others that were totally cancelled since the beginning of the pandemic, like the French league and the Dutch league, in this I mean soccer leagues.
This unfortunate fact of having to declare a champion at the "desk" because of the pandemic is one of the most unsportsmanlike things there can be.
The leagues that decided only to postpone their domestic championship, had to play a large number of games in a very short time, with little time off, which we all know triggered a series of injuries in the players.
Although I must say that in some countries they were the complete opposite, as they decided not to cancel the soccer league, in mine for example, neither the leagues nor the sports events were cancelled.
Ligas deportivas canceladas
Hubo varias ligas que se tuvieron que parar por culpa del Covid, otras que se cancelaron totalmente desde inicios de la pandemia, como la liga francesa y la liga de Holanda, en esto me refiero a ligas de futbol.
Este desafortunado hecho de tener que declarar a un campeón en el “escritorio” por culpa de la pandemia es de las cosas más antideportivas que puede haber.
Las ligas que decidieron solamente postergar su campeonato doméstico, tuvieron que jugar una gran de cantidad de partidos muy seguidos, con poco tiempo de descanso, a lo que todos ya sabemos que desencadenó una serie de lesiones en los futbolistas.
Aunque debo de decir que en algunos países fueron totalmente lo opuesto, pues decidieron no cancelar la liga de futbol, en el mío por ejemplo, ni las ligas, ni eventos deportivos se cancelaron.
A bubble?
Some sports decided, for obvious security reasons, to create the already famous "bubble", which consisted in bringing together players from all teams and applying strict security measures, such as the exclusive accommodation of athletes in hotels for them, that is, confined to them.
The bubble was used in the NBA and the MLS, in the case of the NBA it was more striking the use of this bubble, because many players showed their discontent and even came to the point of rumors of unemployment of the players, I remember that some of them like Lebron James, had to see one of his sons birthday.
Without a doubt it was difficult for the players to pass by their families, since not receiving the support of all your friends and family must influence the performance of the athletes, who often forget that they too are human and need support.
¿Una burbuja?
Algunos deportes decidieron, por motivos obvios de seguridad crear la ya tan famosas “burbuja” la que consistía en reunir a los jugadores de todos los equipos aplicar estrictas medidas de seguridad, como el alojamiento exclusivo de los deportistas en hoteles para ellos, es decir recluidos en ellos.
La burbuja fue usada en la NBA y la MLS, en el caso fue la NBA fue más llamativo el uso de esta burbuja, pues muchos jugadores mostraron su disconformidad y hasta llegaron a punto de rumores de paro de los jugadores, recuerdo que algunos de ellos como Lebron James, tuvieron que ver cumplir años a uno de sus hijos.
Sin duda fue difícil para los jugadores pasar largo de sus familiares, ya que no recibir el apoyo de todos tus amigos y familiares debe de influir en el rendimiento de los deportistas, que muchas veces se olvida que también ellos son humanos y necesitan apoyo.
To conclude
No doubt this year has been difficult in all areas of our lives, sport does not escape the pandemic and has also been affected by the Covid, I really hope that next year we do not have to go through all this calamity again.

Sin dudas este año ha sido difícil en todos los ámbitos de nuestra vida, el deporte no escapa de la pandemia y también se ha visto afectado por el Covid, realmente espero que el próximo año no tengamos que pasar por toda esta calamidad nuevamente.
Convid-19 has changed a lot of things in sports. We have the same feelings about sports, but we cannot go to the stadium to watch sports. Crazy times and like you say the Dutch called the League instead of doing at least something like may other countries did with some completing their matches. I think some sports have shown what they can do, but will spectators be allowed back is the bigger question.
And we'll see if they want to come back. More than one person will not want to go back to the stadiums for fear of catching it and infecting their family.

Esta cambiando un 1000% todo lo que una vez fue normal y llevándolo a lo extremo.
Nos preguntamos si esto seguirá y por cuanto tiempo, ya que nos ha afectado a todos y al mundo del deporte que quizás se ha visto afectado doblemente en lo económico y social.
Me enfocare en lo social ya que estamos claro de la parte económica. Pero en lo social es interesante ya que no me imagino un estadio de fútbol o cancha de baloncesto sin público o solo con el 30% o un poco mas de espectadores.
El publico es esencial en el deporte tan importante que pueden influir en cada juego, en lo personal ver un juego sin público debe ser aburrido sin importar que estemos viviendo los mejores jugadores del mundo.
