A fairly early goal for newly relegated Burnley last night was enough to take all three points in the opening match of the Championship against Huddersfield last night.

All teams want a strong start and home game to open and no doubt Huddersfield will be disappointed after their unlucky loss in the play-off final that ended the last season.

As for me, I didn't get the result nor the first goal scorer but I'm not sure any of you guys did either so it looks like my tokens are safe for another day. Full details at the end.

So onto today, and a big game in the traditional, FA Community Shield curtain raiser between the two teams that will likely be challenging for all the trophies again this season!

Erling Haaland to score the first goal

With Sadio Mane having left, Liverpool have invested a lot of money on Uruguayan, Darwin Nunez for 85 million quid and with 5 subs available, I'd expect him to be getting a run out today at least from the subs bench and will no doubt have time to find his feet in what will be a phrenetic game.

I can hardly say it without a tear in my eye but our very own Kalvin Phillips might also see action for the first time in a sky blue shirt but this isn't guaranteed as he won't be the automatic first choice for the holding midfield role in a large City squad. We wish him well...

Of course, the biggest news within the massive amount of business that Man. City were involved in must be the purchase of Erling Haaland and surely, this has got to be his day. Will he be able to unlock the Liverpool defence and slot a couple home? I think he will!
