Chelsea lose to Everton

Chelsea faced Everton at Goodison park in the premier league in a game that was dubbed master vs apprentice with Frank Lampard again facing one of his former bosses Carlo Ancelloti.

Chelsea who have been in a rich vein of form this season started quite brightly attacking the toffees especially through young right back Reece James. despite all the possession and dominance by the blues, they weren't really threatening going forward and at some point Everton broke out on a counter attack with in form striker Dominic Calvert Lewin trying to beat the goalkeeper but was impeded by the shot stopper who deliberately blocked the strikers path to goal, the referee had no choice but to award a penalty which Gylfi Siggurdson calmly converted sending the goalkeeper the wrong way.

In the second half Chelsea tried to get an equalizer but the Everton defense held firm, Chelsea lacked creativity in the final third and Kai Havertz who was saddled with the creative task was finding it very difficult and was taken off.

Everton won themselves another penalty but the VAR correctly ruled that the striker was offside before the attack started and the decision was cancelled. Everton were able to hold out for what was a very important win.
