Fulham got relegated from the Premier League after Burnley sent them further down. With 10 points off the nearest rival and 3 games to go, it has been mathematically confirmed that Fulham would be going down and they joined West Brom and Sheffield United in the drop. Southampton, Brighton and Newcastle are safe too.
Wood also registered his 50th goal for Burnley in what confirmed their status for the Premier League campaign for next season.
The Clarets got ahead in the 35th minute when Vydra expertly stopped the ball from going out of play. He brilliantly cut the ball back into the box with the onrushing Ashley Westwood. Westwood got a touch to send the ball into the back of the net, 1-0.
Another brilliant attack from Burnley gave Wood his 50th goal for Burnley. He blasted home the volley beating the goalkeeper for pace, direction and accuracy. Fulham thought they had a fighting chance to stay in the league but the odds were stacked against them with the Clarets sending them down. It was a brilliant goal from Chris Wood in the 44th minute.
Vydra should have added a third and his turn was perfect but the volley wasn't. He missed just by a margin. Fulham also had their chances. Ademola Lookman looked like he would get one for Fulham but he was unable to. He stumbled while inside the box. He also set up Anguissa on the edge of the box and his wonderful effort could only rattle the crossbar. If it had gone in, it would have given a nervy ending to the game.
Rodriguez should have scored as well for Burnley but his effort was straight at the goalkeeper. Areola was perfectly positioned to stop the ball.
Fulham relegated from the Premier League and it remains to be seen if they would come back almost immediately and what would become of their manager, Scott Parker. He fought well in the league with his team and hopefully we would see them back up again soon.
Now, the race for the top 4 continues at the other side of the table after the teams at the bottom has been completed.

I will admit that I don't really follow this sport but when I did it was because Clint Dempsey was at Fulham. I suppose it was only a matter of time before this happened. I suppose Fulham fans just have to hope that they didn't spend too much money trying to stay up and have enough in reserves to quickly get promoted next year.
I hope to see them next year. I like their game play. Yes, I really liked Clint Dempsey too.
Too bad they had to go back the championship after starting the begining of the season quite ok. Hope they find their back to the epl and much better

They might be back again in the next 2 seasons If they play fanstastic football and win more games.
