It's Not Hard To See - Football, Life and Manchester United.

20211004_183439.jpg

Life is a result business but a lot of people keep saying that they are making serious efforts but results keep showing the opposite. This is not just a life's post but a football post as well - it's a mixture and I drew lessons from both sides while staying the case with my club.

You would see Manchester United players going to training every day and you would think they know what they are doing. They are a bunch of clueless folks with no notable exception. I watched the training session today and I saw how they were all smiles and laughter. I am not saying it's a crime for them to laugh in training but with the performances this season, I would expect them to show more anger and grit even in training sessions.

It's not surprising how they play because the way they play showed that they are not doing anything in the training session. Do you know how long it took them to have a set-piece goal? It wasn't until February, I think and yet they train for that? Do they have a set pieces coach? They are actually getting paid? Wow... I am shocked.

This club has become a shadow of itself with people just coming in to have their slice of the attractive salaries and nothing more. They are not playing for the shirt, they don't give a hoot about the fans. Ask them to duck their wages when they draw or lose then you would see what would happen.

As much as I believe in Erik Ten Hag to be a quality coach, I also believe Ralf Rangnick to be a good coach based on the reputation he has built over the years but we have seen how things played out for him and this team is nowhere near better. I don't blame the coach and I would still blame him because the bulk of the work rests with him.

I don't know what problem these players have but they have never played together as a unit and I don't see that happening anytime soon. As much as I appreciate the new coach coming in at the end of the season, I doubt a lot would change with this team if they don't let go of most of these players.

I have always believed in this team even when they play the nonsense they play. Ever since Sir Alex Ferguson left, things have gone down a spiral for this team. Not many coaches can use the set of players he used in winning the league the season he retired. There are coaches and there are coaches. I am so sure these coaches cannot accommodate these clashes of heads and they are not bold enough to take the hard decisions.

I know sometimes their hands are tied especially when an England national is involved like Harry Maguire. I have nothing against Harry but he hasn't been good this season. If he was of a different national, I am sure there would have been calls for him to be stripped of his captaincy and starting berth.

This team needs to go in another direction if they ever want to achieve anything together. They need a coach that won't be shy in taking hard decisions. They need a coach that would drop them when their form plummeted and then bench the ones that are not good enough. Too many familiarities are the major problem this team is facing.

This goes on with how life is as well. We have so many people who have become familiar with certain people that they would never take instructions from them. We have those who feel they know it all and they discuss issues with others just to gather sympathy. Those they discuss with make things worse because they won't also tell them the truth.

Life is all about results and once the results are missing there is nothing you can say to convince others that you are making effort. Your results are the things that would make everyone know that there is something you have been doing behind the scene. Most of the time we focus too much on wanting others to see our efforts rather than staying silent to keep growing. I believe there is no one that can't grow but when people lack the determination to improve, there is nothing they can do.

These Manchester United players lack the determination to win games. They give in too easily and they start shouting while also sending apology tweets. It's the same with humans because we are always quick to apologize when we have been found out rather than look for the determination to improve. When the determination is lacking, it's like building on a weak foundation, to you it would look like you are doing the best you can but others are seeing the slippery slope you are on.

There are many lessons to learn about life in football because if we look closely it's all about planning, human behaviour and reactions when something goes against the plans we have set in motion. The major thing is never to stop improving. When there is a will there will always be a way but most people are looking for a way when they lack the will.

This post also appeared here and it's my original work on my blog on Read.Cash. I shared this a few days ago and felt I should share this thought here too.

Thank you for your time.

Sounds as though there is no discipline along with pride. This happens when players think they are better than they actually are and need to be taught a few lessons. I don't doubt the skill of certain players but they also need to grow up and accept responsibility. I hope the new coach comes in and clear out a majority of the team as they have proven they are not players playing for a team. They should be paid according to results like a performance salary and then they would wake up quickly.

I absolutely support this. Let them be paid according to results. They are decent bunch of players but they are not waking up at all. They just act the way they like and leverage on the fact that they are bounded by contract. Their hearts and heads are in different places. Very unserious bunch.

I hope he clears a lot of them too. I read, according to report that he hesitated before signing because he wanted certain things to be in place. For him to give the okay to come and join United, it must be on his own terms. I hope he is tougher and firmer and not afraid to make the hard calls.

Nice analysis.. I feel bad for Ronaldo

Thanks for sharing !1UP

Thank you so much.

This is a nice analysis and it reeks of truth from all corners.
This is what happens when a football club prefers the commercial and business part to it's footballing part. Truth is many of these players know that the owners are more concerned about making money than getting results. They also know that they're making them tons of money through shirt sales and do not feel any extra obligation to the club.
The only solution right now is for this club to go through a total overhaul in its set up, from the technical aspect to the playing staff. Players should be brought in who understand what it means to play for the shirt and not just to sell shirts. These current crop with their bloated ego and salaries should be farmed out, and please very important, FORMER PLAYERS SHOULD STAY AWAY. This whole manutd family ish isn't working.

Thank you so much for this and you spoke absolute truth there. Everything is just wrong with this club and as sir @cryptoandcoffee has said many times, they need to start a rebuilding process and painstakingly hold on because it might take a long process but at least it would be worth it. See Man City and Liverpool.

It's not hard to see, very true. I knew we were going to play terribly yesterday and we did. They are not putting any effort. It's so annoying. They are not running or chasing ball.

They are not ready. I can't wait for the season to be over.

The season is over but we are waiting officially 🤣

United used to be feared but they've lost that aura. It's something fans took for granted in the Sir Alex times. Even Wenger had that about him at Arsenal

Exactly. Arsenal is another example. They are not how they used to be and they have to be honest with themselves and stop living on past glories.

When talking about quality, the only thing Man U need is at most 2 signings. But, that requires them actually work as a team.

With the two quality players, if they are not working as a team, they still won't accomplish anything just as you have rightly said.

You know, you just took this out of my mouth. As an Arsenal fan, I follow the club so much that I watch every training session and like you mentioned, I see them laugh and playing after a loss and I'm wondering, what in this life? You just lost two games against lowly sides and what I expect to see during your training sessions is the anger from those losses built up and channeled into your drills. No smiles with everyone focused on the goal. But, I see them chatting, joking and all sorts like nothing happened nor is there anything at stake.

Seeing that it happens also at United, I'm tempted to feel it's the same across training grounds. I'd give others a benefit of doubt as I've not seen most of their training sessions.

Like you said, all the talks around caring about the fans and how they feel is all PR stunts.

This isn't to say they should wear the baggage of losses or poor performances over their necks and not move on, but you shouldn't show it to fans' that you don't care.

Thank you for this. They indeed show it to the fans that they don't care with lacklustre performances. It's obvious they don't play for the badge. Imagine Vidic after a loss. That guy would "kill" the next game. I missed those times. It's pain watching Manchester United play these days. I feel the same with Arsenal as well. This is what happens when they don't play for the badges and they don't have "crazy" players within their ranks. I read a report of how Keane grabbed Ronaldo by the neck at the end of the game after he lost possession when he was trying to show off and the team was trailing. That's the fight and anger we all want.

Ahahahahaha... Roy Keane though. I may not always agree with his rashness as a pundit, as a player, their set were on a different level. That was when players played for the badge. I remember that famous fight with Viera in the tunnel. Lol

I believe football has gone beyond what it used to be; it's a commercial venture for all involved now, both players and clubs, and their pockets is what matters.

Teams like Liverpool and City though give us vibes different from this.

I also believe that it's the change of culture since Ferguson left. When a system lasted for over two decades, it's difficult to adjust to a new life spontaneously.

They are really struggling to adapt, I have to agree with you. They are playing for their pockets now rather than the badge. I'm glad City and Liverpool still gives us what being a team should be about, even some lower ranked teams too.

Even Ronaldo can't save United.

He is doing his part. Others aren't doing theirs.
