A Ten Men Encounter against Arsenal

It was an interesting day in Stamford Bridge yesterday, with the clash of the first and the second place on the Premier League table. It was Chelsea against Arsenal. Building up to the matchday, social media has been buzzing with what the encounter between the two sides will be like. Many fans claimed it would be a loss for Arsenal, while others predicted an easy win.

To my fullest surprise today, Cole Palmer did not play the match, although it was shared that he is back from his injury. Anyway, that did not stop the flock of yellow and red cards that players from both sides collected. At the start, it was all rough from Arsenal with too many foul attempts on the Blues captain Reece James. Even the Blues did not hold back on their fouls as well, but the highlight was the brutal foul committed by Moses Caicedo on Mikel Merino. It was a rough stumble on Merino's feet as both players went down immediately. What is more funny is how Caicedo was on the floor as well, acting all injured. Who knows? Maybe it was the impact of the foul.

It became so bad that a VAR check had to get involved to determine if there was a possible red card. I did not have to play to think twice; that foul was a red card, and that was what he got. It did not take long; the first half was over. I have to give it to Chelsea; they put up a good fight in the first half, and what made it exciting for me and probably for the Chelsea fans was the one-on-one opportunity missed by Joao Pedro. That was a close one.

The second half of the game back after the break, and Trevor Chalobah wasted no time before netting one in through a header from a crossing made by Reece James. At this point, the Blues were sending a message that being a man down would not stop them from trying their best to get the win or at least fight for it. After consistent pressing from Arsenal, it was glaring that the position of Moses Caicedo was vacant. As a response to the goal, our captain, Bukayo Saka, responded with an assist to Mikel Merino for a header, and it was a goal, the equaliser for the game.

The introduction of Delap for Joao was one that was long pending. Joao Pedro was not able to maximise a certain opportunity, which, if done, would have put Chelsea in the lead for a while or, better still, won the game. But at the end of Mikel Arteta, it was a coup for him to bring in some creativity with the introduction of Noni Madueke and Martin Odegaard. For Noni Madueke, more like bringing a previous weapon of a club against the club; that is funny, but that is the business of football.

Arsenal had a couple of fouls played, which threw our game off balance today, but it was amazing to see the comeback we could pull off after conceding the goal. Nothing much happened for us in the first half of the game, but the second half had us swelling like champions. It was interesting to watch the clash of the first and second in the table standings.
