REVIEW: UFC Fight Night | Rozenstruik vs Sakai

UFC Fight Night Rozenstruik vs Sakai was just concluded at the UFC Apex Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Besides the HW contender bout that was the main event, there's was some great undercard action as well.

A Welterweight scrappy-poo was on display when veteran Ponzinibbio met up against up & comer Baeza. This was fight of the night IMO, it was back and forth throughout until Ponzinibbio took over late with unrelenting boxing pressure

Both fighters showed great heart!

Also of note was the Co-Main event, a Heavyweight bout between number 8 ranked Walt Harris vs number 11 ranked Marcin Tybura

Harris is someone you can really root for, after the murder of his daughter after going missing in October of 2019. Unfortunetly since returning from that horrific occurance, he just hasn't had the success one would hope.

With his quick hands on display, Harris showed glimmers of hope as he stood with Tybura early, even hurting Tybura at one point in the first. However, Tybura's wrestling proved the deciding factor.

Catching a kick and using an outside trip to get a takedown, Tybura gets the ground and pound TKO!

Main Event was number 6 ranked Heavyweight Jairzinho Rozenstruik taking on the number 9 ranked Augusto Sakai...oh they thick boys

Rozenstruik is QUICK and he changes up that speed to keep opponents guessing. Very late in the first round the very tough Sakai was keeping good foot movement when he was caught with a short flurry and finished on the ground. He went out-out, good stoppage and another great showing for Rozenstruik. In fact, this isn't the first time Rozenstruik has won late, famously busting Overeem's lip in 2019 in the last seconds of the fight.

This happens because of his bursts of power and speed allow him to close distance and put away opponents shortly after hurting them...it's all about that power baby!

Win or lose he's always fun to watch!

Overall it was a decent free card. However, it's all a placeholder for next Saturday, June 12th UFC 263 which is STACKED - I'll be breaking that down, hopefully via video...but writing always in my blood so here we are!

See you all around!
