Borussia Dortmund won the German Cup - What will happen to Sancho and Haaland?

Borussia Dortmund won the German cup final yesterday 4-1 against RB Leipzig. The match never was really interesting, because Borussia Dortmund got 2 quite quick goals, followed by a third goal just before halftime. In other words, the match was almost "decided" by half-time.

The first goal was a beautiful goal from Jadon Sancho, followed by a typical warrior goal from Haaland. The third goal was just fun to watch as Jadon Sancho tricked the defender and slowly kicked the ball into the goal... and then came Haaland once again!

What will happen to Sancho and Haaland?

These are two of the hottest players in European football at the moment. Currently, they are fighting hard in order for Borussia Dortmund to get a spot in the Champions League next year. They haven't secured it yet, and they actually stand in danger of not getting among the best four teams in Germany. If they don't, I believe it will be a great disappointment for the fans, and also for their star players Haaland and Sancho.

Lots of teams have shown interest in Haaland and Sancho already, and if they don't get a place in the Champions League, it might give those players one extra motivation to leave the club.

But, what will happen, and what will be the consequence for Borussia Dortmund if their stars leave the club?

I, personally, hope that Borussia Dortmund will get a top 4 position and that both players will stick around for at least one more year... but I am not at all convinced that they will.

If BVB sell their stars, they will receive lots of money!

This is for sure a consequence. Erling Haaland has a contract until next year, meaning that if anyone will buy him right now, it will probably be at a price the football world has never seen before. Jadon Sancho might not be that expensive, but he will for sure bring lots of money to the club as well.

With this money, they will be able to purchase new players which might strengthen the team. And sometimes, in some strange situations, we have also seen that when the big stars disappear, the not-so-famous players rise up and take way more responsibility. This was often seen with Sweden with and without Ibrahimovic. When their big star didn't play, the rest of the team played better. It will be interesting to see how they will do this summer in the European Championship, especially considering that Zlatan will return to play for Sweden again!

They might turn into an average team...

Who knows where BVB would have been this season without Sancho and Haaland. Imagine, Haaland will be the top scorer in Champions League this season, even though they were beaten already in the quarter-finals. He is also one of the most scoring players in the German Bundesliga.

So, it might actually go in the other direction as well... without their super attacker and his co-player Sancho, BVB might actually turn into a quite average German team.

To be honest, I highly doubt it, but it might happen!

What do you think? Do you hope Sancho and Haaland will stay around, do you hope they will leave the club? What would be the best solution?

Sort:

I'm not a BVB fan but I hope they will stay around. Bundesliga needs other teams besides Bayern to be stable top teams. The other candidate to a top team spot could be Lipsia. By the way I'm not a Bundesliga expert, I'd like to know what you think about that

YOu are very right about the fact that Germany needs good teams besides Bayern Munchen. So, seen from that perspective, I really hope that they will stay around and that they can beat Bayern Munchen in the Bundesliga next year!

To be honest I hope for the same thing or Bayern will surpass Juve on the most national titles in a row ahahah right now they're both at 9 in a row but Juve this year lost (I wrote a post -my first on Hive- about problems Juve faced this year if you're interested)

Will check your post about Juventus... :)

Great win for Dortmund. I think Sancho and halaand will most likely be leaving. Cashing in on them to improve the squad might not be a bad idea has they'll certainly leave someday

If they would sell them, then they for sure would have money to buy quite a lot of new players that also have great talent and the chance to become way better. Seen from a sponsor perspective, it might not be the best (seeing that Sancho and Haaland products sell a lot), but if they could catch some new stars instead, it might be worth it still!
