It was located in the middle of a new square, which at the time was called a new market or a top market, on the orders of the Duchess. It served as a parish church and an escape church for evangelicals from other principalities where the Roman Catholic ruler did not allow the creation of a parish. It was a temple in the Baroque style"
What a beautiful structure from the 17th century. @bowess gives us a little history of this religious architectural building and it looks to be a grand place from days gone by.

"The Stratiomyidae is commonly called the soldier fly, a strange name, and even stranger in German it's called the Waffenfliegen (armed fly). I have seen a species that is black in color or commonly called a black soldier fly (Hermetia illucens), whereas in these pictures it is the golden soldier fly species"

"September 2006 was exceptionally serene in Latvia. So I used it and rode around the area on a bike. Contrary to appearances, it was not so easy, because the roads were (and still are) nightmarish. And in addition, these were pre-smartphone times, so forget about google map on your phone. However, I had a few paper maps in stock, and they clearly showed that it is enough to drive about 12 kilometers over The Two and on the other side of the shore will be the ruins of koknese castle"
