What if we implement a tipping balance that is controlled by the posting key. It could be a special balance that users fund using their active key, via the secure Wallet, but spend through tip operations using the posting key.
The tip transactions can be deferred for 24 hours, to give time to cancel in the case of a compromised posting key.
One way to look at this would be that of considering it a "lite wallet" within the main wallet, leveraged for things that are closely tied to the social experience that require the transfer of funds, where exiting the social experience (going to wallet) to complete the transactions degrades the user experience.
To support social experiences like:
- Tipping and Donations
- Crowdfunding
- Subscriptions or Patreon style creator support
- Charity
What are your thoughts on this?
Seems to me that this is the problem to fix.
I think it's a great idea. To tip Hive and HBD would require blockchain-level changes, so I'll talk to some of our other devs to see how much trouble it would be to implement.
