Everyone Can Help Out With This. "Reference Lists"

in Hive Improvement3 years ago (edited)

Recently in a discussion between some fellow loyal members of our wonderful Hive community, there was some discussion about “The HBD Peg to The USD”.

It was clear that many a time, we all tend to discuss things that have already been discussed in the past. This is definitely fantastic, as it shows that everyone is willing and able to think about things from a new decentralized point of view and not from a “will Steemit approve something” type of approach.

However, when discussing these types of very important topics we do not have any list of references to turn to.

This type of documentation would really come in handy to many people when tackling these absolutely overly important topics.

So, one practical idea could be that those among us in the broader community, actually team up and start putting together lists of links/posts relevant to the wide variety of topics concerning our Hive ecosystem.

We can post them on the chain and if for any reason an individual one day stops updating a certain category/topic list, it can easily be copy pasted and continued by any other good person wanting to contribute to the resources available for one and all.

The below partial list on “The Peg” is what came to mind when thinking about all this and if we keep it simple and straight forwards, anyone of us in the community can contribute. I am sure that there are many more relevant posts and articles about “The Peg” and they can be relayed in the comments, so that the individual managing a certain topic can easily edit the list (post) and include it.

Little things like this can help in the long run and every bit helps. Documentation is no fun, but it plays a major role in long term efficiency and serves as a resource to everyone.

If anyone out there is interested in getting something like this started and when I say “anyone” I mean anyone, not everything has to be dependent on ‘Witnesses’ to get things done. Hive is all of us and we can all pitch in.

If you feel that you can help out with this, simply contact me on Discord. Or if there is someone who wishes to take the reins on this idea, sure, by all means, hop in and make it happen. That is what makes decentralization tick, TEAM WORK & a tad of coordination along with it!

Hope to hear from people who are willing and able to help out with this rather boring and somewhat tedious task, but heck, someone has to do it and it will serve as a valuable resource of information and references to everyone once it is done.

Yours truly

Here’s a new one proposing to use the built-in savings function to help fix the peg. Can’t say I completely understand the implications, but there could be some interesting consequences (like credit and interest):

That is how simple it can be!

Posts with reference lists are always valuable. Saves a lot of time searching through topics. I bet there are some by ats-david somewhere on the topic.

Well, if he has already started something along these lines, then maybe he is the best person for the job.

I just added a post on there moments ago, by edicted, literally too simple if the work is distributed and not on the back of one person only.

Everyone in the community can pitch in to expand on our resources.

This is so important I think - and we need a web page or somewhere obvious to store it!

As a constructive criticism I personally think the amount links already are quite a lot, so many in fact it's off putting!

An evolution might be to have a 'recommended' section with just one or two links, max of three with easy to understand posts, then a 'find out more/ depth section' with more complex 'quality/ pure factual' stuff then an all-in 'everything' section - which is more opinion pieces.

Of course ideally we'd have a functional database of all of this that's searchable!

I guess that's where Hive101 is heading?!

Hive101.info could incorporate this, I don't see why not, but we can't allow for something like this to be reliant on just one site.

Hive101.info, right now is set up so as to add links/backlinks to all the Hive related projects, apps, sites and communities. An "SEO tool" as I often like to call sites along those lines. Yet at the same time, utilizing WordPress which is so common on the net, that anyone online can use it in a way that they are familiar with.

Hive resources, should be available anywhere applicable, but you do make a great point about a dbase. Maybe the communities feature on Hive can be utilized efficiently for this and then anyone can hook it up to their site.

Man, you got me thinking about what all people in the community can put together in resource lists and how all they can be utilized.
