Not far from the village of Kinel, Cherkassy, Samara region, there is an abandoned military unit previously numbered 62977. Military town, equipment repair shop and airfield
The airfield is located 85 km from Samara. It has existed since about 1940. Has a concrete runway of two kilometers. Since 1960, it has hosted the DOSAAF aviation training center, where pilots were trained on the L-29 and MiG-17 aircraft. In the early 90s, after the collapse of the USSR, the center was closed. According to some information, during the years of the existence of the UAC DOSAAF, the singer A. Marshal underwent an internship there.
Since the beginning of 1993, the Mi-26 and Mi-8 helicopters of the 793rd separate combat-transport helicopter regiment were based at the airfield. At the end of 2009, the regiment was disbanded, the helicopters were transferred to other airfields. But not all. There was also an attempt to form a flying club on the Mi-2, but it did not exist for six months.

Thanks for replying, I figured you were real but had to make sure. I am quite envious of this, other than old cars.. I have never had the chance to check out anything in this league.
During SF4 (Bangkok), a few of us were tempted to go visit an old Jet but didn't get there in the end, instead opting for a derelict shopping mall which we we failed on.
We have a half-abandoned jet plane not far from the city.)

Old helicopter boneyard and old airplane boneyard's would be pretty cool to explore and check out. People think that things were real complicated on helicopters but just look at how simple that one panel looked, simple toggle switches and a few missing knobs.
Well, I don't think that everything is very simple there.) But it is interesting to explore such places, this is a fact.))
