Finsterwalde was once one of the most important textile producing towns of Lusatia, Germany. ( In the early days of the 20th C, there were 11 such factories in the town).
Construction - of what was to become the largest manufacturer of quality cloth in the town: FF Koswig, Cloth Factory - commenced in 1896 with various additional bits added through to 1913. At this time there were over 700 people employed on site.
Though in early 1898, the plant suffered a catastrophic fire with about 90 looms, the spinning machines and the wool store being destroyed.
Like a Phoenix it rose from the ashes and continued to expand and operate
Don't ya just love it when gates are constructed with plenty of bits to climb on.
At the end of WW2 the company was expropriated and became an East German Govt. owned and run corporation. as "VEB Feintuchwerke Finsterwalde".
The complex when construction was completed consisted of a gatehouse, office buildings, a weaving mill, welfare facilities, and a forge and stables there was also a rail connection to the mainline with a goods warehouse. All these building are now protected and classified as protected historical monuments
No falling against feeble doors today,
An office of some importance, with fine wood panelling and expensive looking book case.
In 1990, following reunification, the Treuhand agency that was set up to de-nationalise former state run enterprises, took FF into their portfolio. The factory was closed as soon as 1992 with the machinery being sold off , most going to India and other parts of Asia. I guess these frames were unloved and unwanted by anyone.
It seemed even the street artists have shunned visiting the shells of this place, let alone investors.
The upper floors were in a bad state, after years of water ingress through the roof, rotting in places, speaking of which the heavens had opened and down came the rain.
This was the only other accessible building, that is if you call accessible as crawling on hands and knees through bushes and brambles, and nettles and other assorted wet vegetation.
A toilet and some lovely tiles were about the best things in here

So that was the Fine touch fabrics factory done and dusted. After the catastrophic fire in 1898, and a further fire 10 years later, the founder and owner Max Koswig, became a benefactor of the local fire brigade.
Disco Inferno
I couldn't find an image of Max Koswig.
But this is Stephanie Pohl a German Beach volleyball player who was born in the town in 1976. That'll do
