Signs (2) 💈👋 | 招牌（二）

Hey hey, what's up guys! :D It's been quite a while since I last posted here. Hope you and your loved ones are doing well during this special time!

I went to Asia right after my last post in 2019, and after I came to Europe last year, the Covid started. ~~It wasn't me I promise.~~ I didn't travel out of Europe the past year, but I have been enjoying sorting through my travel photos and videos from the past decade. To better document these travels, I made some compilations as well. Now I'd love to share with you a little collection of signs. These signs about drinks are from different places while all of them looked amusing to me. I hope you will enjoy them too! :)

嗨，大家好呀~ 好久不见！时间过得真快，上次发完文就回亚洲了，在热带过了年，再来比利时后疫情刚好开始。最近一年都没出远门，只在谷底期去了附近的几个国家，并利用周末把以前忽略的小比国深度游了一番。其实如果非要出欧洲也不是没可能，但之前奔波了那么久，现在倒觉得这归隐田园的安静生活蛮可贵的，也才有时间来整理这些年拍的东西。过程中发现不少有意思的瞬间，其中一些已经淡忘了，觉得应该做些集结归类，也好对得起自己饱受摧残的itchyfeet啊。

今天先来分享几处有趣的饮料标识，想起来~~很久很久~~以前发过“Signs”系列之一，~~又是一个挖了坑却无情弃之的悲惨故事😂，~~ 那现在就捡起来继续发第二篇吧。

So let's start with a sign I spotted in front of a bar in Luang Prabang almost 10 years ago. If you have been to Laos, you might have tried the local beers under the Beerlao brand. As you can see from the shirts here, BeerLao logo and the common saying "Same same, but different" from Thailand and Laos are both popular prints for tourists. I enjoyed visiting Luang Prabang a lot, it's a fascinating destination with a long history and beautiful natural surroundings.

先从多年前的老挝之旅开始，上面这块招牌是我在皇城琅勃拉邦的一处酒吧前看到的。去过老挝的朋友可能对当地的老挝啤酒不陌生，大街小巷都能看到，闷热的天气里来上一瓶，清凉爽口很解渴。我觉得琅勃拉邦很值得一去，有种古朴幽静的氛围，城内处处是历史悠久的古迹，周边还有山林瀑布等秀美的自然景观, 吃的也很可口。旁边的游客纪念衫上就印着老挝啤酒的logo，还有那在泰国和老挝经常听到的特色说法"Same same, but different"，这里更精简，把后半截都省略掉了，哈哈。

The second one is a sign of Brouhaha, a brewery and restaurant that I highly recommend. You know it won't be a bad place when you see the humour on this sign. ;) They boast a cozy interior, tasty food, and a selection of unique beers including the Milk Stout in which lactose is used in the brewing process.

第二块招牌在澳洲阳光海岸的一家餐吧门口。这里的室内设计，精酿啤酒和各色小吃都很有特点。远处只看到“我爱老婆”的宣言，走近细看才发现那两行小字，挺有意思。想起来很多商店里惯用的打折标语，优惠很醒目，而需要满足的条件却印成蚊子般大小。人生艰难，你品你细品😆。

I saw this smart copy on a street in Faversham, a market town in England. Coffee culture has been popular worldwide, and each year new trends pop up. There are so many copies telling people that they can't survive without coffee, especially in the morning. Is it really worth all the hype? That being said, I found the coffee aroma quite intoxicating, visited a few coffee farms, and purchased some coffee gadgets including a Moka pot from Italy and a dripper from Vietnam...

“打呵欠是对咖啡无声的呼唤”。好有诗意的文案。咖啡文化在世界多地都很流行，每年都会出来些新的口味、冲泡方法之类。生活中，网络上，随处可见这种诱导型文案，告诉我们没有咖啡无法存活，尤其是在早晨。我一边质疑着这种种销售绑架，一边无法控制我寄几地被咖啡的香气所引诱，还参观过好几个咖啡庄园，采摘过好几颗咖啡豆，买过好几样咖啡器具，包括意呆利带回来的摩卡壶和越南带回来的滴漏壶······

This sign is as funny as the city trait of Osaka. I love it as I love Osaka. Wait, he/she even wrote "mother-in-law" as "mother-in-low", hahaha.

这块酒吧招牌就跟大阪这个地方一样充满喜感。大阪这种独特的喜庆气质我有空会详细写。今天先来看看这搞笑的文案，想必这位作者是被丈母娘或婆婆虐惨了，连 "mother-in-law" 都写成了 "mother-in-low"，哈哈哈。

The two signs above are from the island of Bali. I read about this famous "in water there is bacteria "quote before, but I was doubtful if Benjamin Franklin ever said that. He might not. Mr. Franklin died in 1790, but not until 80 years later, the word “bacteria” started to become well-known with Louis Pasteur’s germ theory. Still, it's a good copy for wine and beer sellers. :)

上面的两块招牌来自印尼的巴厘岛，第一块俨然成为各酒商的绝佳卖货文案，第二块也是道尽人间悲喜😄。我在那之前也读到过“葡萄酒中有智慧，啤酒中有自由，水中有细菌”的说法，但当时就有点怀疑这来自本杰明·富兰克林，后来一查，果然不是。因为“细菌”这个词是随着法国微生物学之父路易·巴斯德的“病菌理论”流传开来的，而富兰克林早在80年前就已作古。另外，因为以前教过语言，会帮学生辨析近义词，加上新冠病毒的流行，顺便说一下：“germs”一般翻译为“病菌”，包含致病的细菌(bacteria)、真菌（fungi）、病毒(viruses)等。细菌(bacteria)不一定致病，比病毒大很多，最大的细菌肉眼可见。而病毒（viruses）是最小的病菌，伤风和流行感冒是由病毒感染引起。不知道我解释清楚了没有，哈哈，其实我最喜欢写说明文。
