“Masanobu Fukuoka’s Natural Farming, Clay Seed Dumplings”

I wrote that I was trying the natural farming style for my vegetable garden. I am doing one of the Indigenous farming styles called the Three Sister’s garden. Also, I decided to retry the natural farming style which was invented by Masanobu Fukuoka.
I tried Mr. Fukuoka’s natural farming style with my husband in Japan. Unfortunately, we had to move out from this place so we couldn’t continue it. However, I have a chance now and am doing the Three Sisters anyways. I have no reason to not try Mr. Fukuoka’s clay seed dumplings style.
Basically, I just play with clay seed dumplings outside! I am half joking but half serious. I have a very weak body so I cannot push myself to maintain my garden everyday. I think this natural farming style is ideal for me. However, if people are looking for a typical harvesting style, probably you need to do this style as a parallel project with a typical farming style. We cannot expect the exact quick result but it naturally works little by little.

以前自然農法の畑を試していると投稿したことがあります。今試しているのはスリーシスターズという3種類の豆を並べて植える方法です。それに加えて以前試したことのある福岡正信さんの自然農法を改めて試すことにしました。
以前試した時は残念ながら引っ越しする事になり、続けられませんでした。ところが、現在スリーシスターズの畑を試しているのだから、福岡正信さん式の畑もまたやってみようという事になりました。
基本的には、外で種入りの泥団子遊びをするということです！半分冗談で半分本気です。わたしは身体が弱いため、通常の畑作業をする体力がないので、福岡正信さんの農作業スタイルが自分には向いているのではないかと思います。でも通常の畑を好む方は、この方法は別のプロジェクトとして通常の畑と並行するのがよいかもしれません。必ずしも求めるような結果になるとは限らないですが、自然に少しずつ結果が出ると思います。
I noticed that probably I can use our earth which us from our land. My husband poured water into the earth and separated clay from rocks for us. I prepared the other soil.
最近、敷地内に粘土があることに気づきました。主人が水を注ぎ、砂利と粘土を分けてくれました。わたしは別の混ぜる土をきれいに整えました。
On the other hand, I was preparing some seeds from late spring or early summer. There are chive seeds, red and white clover seeds, rhubarb seeds, pumpkin seeds and more. Pumpkin seeds are from last year. Also, I added the left over seeds from the last spring’s seeding.
一方で、春の終わりから夏の初め頃にかけて、種を集めて乾かし準備をしていました。チャイブ、赤と白のクローバー、ルーバーブにカボチャの種。カボチャは去年のものです。それに春先の種まきで余った種を混ぜ合わせました。
After mixing the clay and the soil, I just enjoyed making the clay seed Dumplings. I love touching the dirt.
粘土、土と種を混ぜたら、いよいよ団子づくりです。どろんこを触るのは好きです。
I just finished drying these clay seed dumplings for a few days. Some people say, three days or a week. I think mine are almost dried completely in three days. I spread them into my field which is pretty wild. Following the theory, the rain will break the dumplings and it will grow naturally little by little. I am hoping for them to grow healthy.
This time, I tried to use all of stuff from my property so I am not sure it will work or not but I am hoping that it will work out soon! To be continued, Hopefully.
数日間、粘土団子を乾かしました。３日間から１週間位が目安らしいです。わたしのは３日でほぼ完全に乾きました。乾いた粘土団子を草むらに投げました。雨で団子がくずれて、少しずつ育つというのがこの粘土団子の理論です。元気に育ってほしいです。
全て家にあるものでまかなったので、上手くいくかどうかはわかりませんが、成功を願います。続く（といいのですが…。）

とても興味深いです。この自然農法は初めて知りました。
農業は普通にやろうと思うとものすごく体力を使うので大変ですよね。
この自然農法が、環境の負荷をかけずにどれだけの収穫を得られるのか楽しみです。
泥団子を作るなんて、ものすごく面白い発想です。驚きました！
福岡正信さんは昼寝することを大事にしていたようです^_^
わたしの泥団子は成功するかどうかはわかりませんが、いつか芽が出るといいな〜と思っています。
私も省力農業に興味があります。ロックダウン中にCharles Dowdingさんというイギリスの方のNo Digというやり方のビデオを山のように見て試してみようとしています😊楽しいところを最大化したいですもんね！

身体と心を楽にさせてくれる畑は嬉しいですね。@akipponnさんがスタートした時は、試して良かったと思う方法ぜひいつか教えてください！
豆の壁の手前のガラスのグリーンハウスももう本当に素敵なんですよ！ちょっとずつNo Dig始めています。うまくいったこと、いかなかったことまた書きますね :)
賛成です！わたしも上手くいかないこともシェアしたいです。失敗談も含めてもらえるとありがたいですよね。何年越しかわかりませんが、グリーンハウスも計画中です。No Dig 記事、楽しみにしてます〜^_^
