Alfonso Ortiz Tirado He was born in Álamos, Sonora, January 24, 1893 - Mexico City, and died on September 7, 1960. He was a Mexican tenor singer and orthopedist. Son of Dr. Alfonso Ortiz Retes, brother of the governor of the state of Sonora, Carlos Rodrigo Ortiz Retes, and María Luisa Tirado, originally from Álamos. He spent his early years in Culiacán, Sinaloa and moved to Mexico City with his mother and siblings, after the death of his father. He attended primary and secondary education at the Colegio de Mascarones, where his singing skills were revealed. Later, he entered the National Preparatory School and upon finishing he enrolled in the Faculty of Medicine; He obtained his professional title in 1919. As a surgeon he was a member of the American Academy of Surgery, the Indo-Latin Academy of Medicine, a professor at the UNAM School of Medicine, and a member of various medical organizations in Mexico and abroad.

Alfonso Ortiz Tirado Nació en Álamos, Sonora, 24 de enero de 1893 – Ciudad de México, y falleció el 7 de septiembre de 1960 fue un cantante tenor y ortopedista mexicano. Hijo del Dr. Alfonso Ortiz Retes, hermano del gobernador del estado de Sonora don Carlos Rodrigo Ortiz Retes, y de María Luisa Tirado originarios de Álamos. Pasó sus primeros años en Culiacán, Sinaloa y se trasladó a la Ciudad de México junto con su madre y hermanos, después del fallecimiento de su padre. Cursó la educación primaria y secundaria en el Colegio de Mascarones, donde se pusieron de manifiesto sus aptitudes para el canto. Posteriormente, ingresó a la Escuela Nacional Preparatoria y al terminar se inscribió en la Facultad de Medicina; recibió su título profesional en 1919. Como médico cirujano fue miembro de la Academia Americana de Cirugía, de la Academia Indo latina de Medicina, catedrático de la Facultad de Medicina de la UNAM y miembro de diversos organismos médicos de México y el extranjero.
